Senior Bowl Weigh Ins

Who would you like?
Or what type WR?
IMO they should double down on a WR via trade / FA AND the draft.

I’d be calling about Hops / Cooks / Juedy as my top choices. I’d need to be 100% sure OBJ is healthy before pulling the trigger on him and lastly I like Hardman as last option in FA.

Then I’d still draft someone like Dell in the 2nd if he was available and you’d have him battling it out with Tolbert as young blood for the future.

WR1: Lamb
WR2: Cooks
WR 3: Dell
WR: Gallup / Tolbert

I can actually get excited about that.

Can add a role player or make a trade that will likely cost a lot, but there’s not much out there in free agency. Jakobi Myers is probably the best available- after him it’s guys like Juju, DJ Chark, Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman. And won’t be surprised to see the few decent options to get overpaid because of the lack of available talent
Yea, those FAs don’t do much for me. I think we’re going to have to be aggressive via trade unless we go the OBJ route.

Not that I’m against Cooks from a talent standpoint, but going from Cooper to Cooks would end up be a et negative in draft picks and we’d still be paying a WR2 $18M. I dont see that happening.

I’d imagine the Texans would eat a little of his contract. Cutting ties with Zeke and potentially Schultz will save us a ton.

We’re going to be in the negative on the Cooper draft pick deal regardless…bc our GM is a moron.

It’s already $8.5M dead cap for the Texans to trade Cooks, I don’t see why they would take on $10+ million in dead cap without a fairly significant return back.

Not to mention that our moron GM is what I think is the main holdup. Trading for an expensive #2 WR requires Jerry to swallow his ego and admit he was wrong. Good luck with that. I expect them to do what they always do…overcorrect and draft the best WR left at 26.

We had some interest in Hardman when he came out
Hardman is one free agent receiver I’d target.

I’m not saying I want him, but DJ Chark always looked like the prototypical receiver the Cowboys like.

I’m the draft, if we’re talking early rounds I’d be looking at Flowers and Hyatt.

Well he swallowed his pride when we traded for Cooper, basically admitting the WR committee approach was stupid.

The fact we expressed interest in him prior gives me a little bit of hope we’ll do something to fix the WR problem.

Tyjae Spears RB from Tulane is turning a lot of heads at the practices as well. 5’9 204 RB with what looks to be elite burst and short area quickness. Dominated at Tulane last year with 1,581 yards rushing (6.9 YPC) and 19 TD’s while also adding 256 yards receiving with 2 TD’s. Had 205 yards and 4 TD’s Vs USC in the bowl game as well.

Big fan of Spears. I remember watching him and their bowl game this year and he single handedly wrecked the game.

Great burst and wiggle.

There is little chance Dell would be #3 WR before Gallup.

Dell is a nice prospect and I would be OK with drafting him but he's small and a bit of a project. Let's not repeat the 2022 offseason where people were talking about how Tolbert would make an impact.

He’s small, but I don’t think he’s a project at all.

As long as your OC is creative to generate some touches he can have an impact year 1. He’s also been almost unguardable in Sr bowl practices winning with his speed / quickness and route running so I think he’s more polished than Tolbert.

Senior Bowl workouts are just that...........workouts.

If you bring in a vet like a Cooks and draft Dell, he's no higher than 4th on the WR depth chart.

Coach jerry will be on the field timing the 3 cone drill.

They’re job interviews.

MG might be #3 if we drafted him but itd likely be due to contract not ability. And you’re also not just drafting for next season.

But they are still workouts. They aren't real games. They aren't facing proven NFL players in a camp setting.

Gallup is a proven vet who came off injury. It's not impossible he needed a full year post surgery to get back to himself.

Assuming Dell just replaces him or should replace him without him ever taking a NFL snap is just weird. Again, there were a bunch of people here claiming the same from Tolbert. And not surprisingly, a rookie WR that isn't a total stud coming out of college like a Lamb or Jefferson needed time to acclimate. Odds are someone like Dell is going to take time to find his footing in the NFL.

Of course you are not drafting for just one year. I am not opposed to taking Dell. But I also won't get crazy and pencil him as definitely being a better option than Gallup in 2023.

I think the players and scouts are taking it more seriously than a workout.

I also don’t think it’s crazier to think Dell can come in and be more productive year 1 than Gallup than it is for Gallup to magically turn into a great seperator that he’s never been:
