That'd just be for money reasons. Can Cooks in 2023 and Gallup legit beat him out? That's not a givenSenior Bowl workouts are just that...........workouts.
If you bring in a vet like a Cooks and draft Dell, he's no higher than 4th on the WR depth chart.
Keeanu Benton is a dude I am really keeping my eyes on. He was a gamer at Wisconsin, but played more like a run plugger. I didn't see a lot of pass rush upside with him. Thought he was like a 3rd round talent.
Well come to the Senior Bowl, and he has been unblockable in 1 on 1s.
If he has a big Combine, his stock seriously might shoot up towards our 1st round range. The guy can run stuff like a 1T, and apparently can pass rush like a 3T. And his body type is right in between the two. Tons of versatility.

Don't compare me to anybody liking Tolbert. I'm talking about Dell. I never liked TolbertNothing is a given but using some common sense the odds are that two pretty decent vets have a better shot of producing than a smallish rookie who has raw skills that probably need some refining.
I swear, it's like we never learn lessons around this place. Rewind to last offseason and people were gushing about Tolbert and how he would make an impact, etc.
Frankly, this kind of thinking is what the Jones boy use every year to build a roster. That this pick or that pick will make an immediate impact, ergo, we don't need a vet FA at this position or to fill that hole. How's that strategy/thinking working out for us?
Just bc Tolbert didn’t have an impact year 1 doesn’t mean he won’t for us eventually.Nothing is a given but using some common sense the odds are that two pretty decent vets have a better shot of producing than a smallish rookie who has raw skills that probably need some refining.

It's more a general comment to show that rookies always tend to get more praise/hype than they should.Don't compare me to anybody liking Tolbert. I'm talking about Dell. I never liked Tolbert
I am simply talking about assuming Dell comes to Dallas an immediately supplants a guy like Gallup. It's not all that likely. Doesn't mean you shouldn't draft him if you think he's worthy of a pick. But assuming he'll just "fix" a big problem with the Cowboys immediately or supplant a veteran who was pretty good in the past, is a reach at this point. If Dell is on this team in 2023, my guess is he fills a situational role for the team. Which frankly, is needed. I just don't believe he'll immediately supplant Gallup as the #2 or #3 WR here and become a more reliable target right from the start.Just bc Tolbert didn’t have an impact year 1 doesn’t mean he won’t for us eventually.
There are also a handful of dudes from last years class that did so don’t forget about them.
Size always worries me. Especially when a guy is frail. Reminds me a lot of Tutu Atwell with his frame. Atwell was electric in college but just hasn’t transitioned to the NFL. Devonta Smith was skinny as hell but is one of the exceptions. What about Tank Dell's size, though. He's fast. But can he take a hit? That would be the million dollar question.
By himself, no. But he could be a big piece of the solution. Trade / sign a vet and draft Dell and he doesn’t have to be our #2.I am simply talking about assuming Dell comes to Dallas an immediately supplants a guy like Gallup. It's not all that likely. In other words, Dell likely ain't solving our WR problems this year. He's a long term project. They still need a good vet WR to pair with Lamb and Gallup.
It's very likely in 2023. It'd be unlikely in 2003It's more a general comment to show that rookies always tend to get more praise/hype than they should.
Reality is that it's unlikely Dell would step foot on the field in August and prove himself to be a better, more consistent, bigger impact player for the Cowboys in 2023 than Gallup, for example. It would be a rarity given his size, where he would be drafted, etc. Impossible? Of course not. Likely? Not really.
It's very likely that Dell would beat out Gallup as a rookie? It's very likely in 2023. It'd be unlikely in 2003
Based on the tape I've seen.......depending on how he grasps the playbook, yes. Have you watched his tape? There's a bunch of rookies 2021/2022 that we better than gallup day 1 and they weren't all high first rounders. Again, it's not 2003 and Gallup isn't THAT goodIt's very likely that Dell would beat out Gallup as a rookie?
I've seen his tape. But there have been other WRs that look good on tape that take a year or two in the NFL to find their footing.Based on the tape I've seen.......depending on how he grasps the playbook, yes.
