Well that is surprising. I wonder if he is retiring due to lack of free agency activity or if he is retiring for personal reasons?

Probably just tired of the grind and saved his money.

Good for him. Must be nice to retire so young.

My vote is that he sucked so bad last season nobody had an interest in him.

We are talking a NFL starting safety who managed 0 interception and only 3 PD all season (15 games) long.

Considering the veteran minimum for a player with his tenure, just about any team probably would be better bringing in a UDFA than Sensabaugh.

Maybe he realized he's been wise with his money, can live the rest of his life debt-free and be able to afford the great things in life while managing to escape any significant issues that will harm his quality of life.

No offense to Gerald, but was he really worthy of the "retiring as a xxxxxx" player?

This if for the more accomplished players, imo.

Why would Jerruh do that for him? Seems to me that those 1 day contract type things are only for guys who have made a major impact on an organization.

I don't get it.

I don't know this, but I think he loves the Dallas-FT Worth area a lot & wants to continue raising his family there, plus the fact that no team is willing to let him compete for a starting job it seems & he doesn't want to go back to being a ST's specialist this late in his career. I really like the guy, and I wish him the best in his life after football.

After seein this i kept thinkin back to the offseason where he on twitter was seemingly very into his kids and fishing. Now this isnt to say he was not focused i believe this is more personal. Maybe the thrill of football has passed him by and family is where hes headed as far as personally. Just my .02

Gee, could it be that he was a widely liked player who was a good citizen? He was here for four years, why would you begrudge this?

My guess is both. I know he has young kids and really liked living in the DFW area, so he probably did not want to uproot his family again.

It is kind of odd news since he wasn't of Darren Woodson type fame or even a Roy Williams for that matter. It's a violent sport and I'm sure it took a toll on his body. He's walking away from the game on his own terms so he can probably spend more time with his kids. Best of luck to him and I hope he saved his money.

What's the harm, and he has to retire from some club, why not the Cowboys. His resume will look a lot better with a "Retired from Dallas Cowboys" line item on it.

Teams typically take care of guys who play hurt even if it means the player is going to be insulted by fans.

Guys I just got word that Brian Price and Aaron Corp will also be retiring as Cowboys on a 1 day contract.

Good for them.
