I don't get it.

I don't have the slightest problem with it. It's a nice thing to do and has no negative impact.

What I don't get is why it was necessary. The last team he played for was the Cowboys. He wasn't signed by any other team, so wasn't he kinda already retiring as a Cowboy? I always considered this "sign a one day contract" thing to be for players who went on to other teams, but valued their time or felt they had the most impact with the Cowboys.

The one day contract is so the last contract a player signs is with the Cowboys... wasn't it already?

But, maybe that "one day contract" at his salary might pay him, oh, lets say, $3,569.
