Sensabaugh will retire a Cowboy

Well damn, this is a disturbing trend for the Cowboys. All these guys that were here starting at safety over the years end up out of the NFL pretty fast once the Cowboys get rid of them. And it's not like they were that old when they were released - Roy Williams, Ken Hamlin, Abe Elam, now Sensabaugh

It's not as if he's going into the ring of honor or anything. I don't really see this as a big deal. The guy wants to retire as a Cowboy. Maybe the Cowboys were the best part of his Football Career and he simply wants to be associated with that. I actually have more respect for a guy who would want to be associated with this team now, as opposed to a guy who might do this when we are winning Super Bowls or on a 5 year division championship run.

I think it's cool.

What's the harm, and he has to retire from some club, why not the Cowboys. His resume will look a lot better with a "Retired from Dallas Cowboys" line item on it.

I know, really. I'm glad he's no longer on the roster, but he seemed like a decent guy, why not?

Sensabaugh had an 8 year career in the NFL and 4 of of them were with Dallas.
No reason for him not to retire a Cowboy.
It's not like he's going in the ring of honor or anything.

He made many millions in a short time and got to play a kids games doing it.
Good for him.

I agree. It could be that the Cowboys took the chance to get him after his arrest. As a result, he was able to get his life together as a Cowboy and he probably felt that he owed the Cowboys organization for what they did.

Sensy's played with two teams for any significant amt of time. Jags and the Cowboys. Outside of the things mentioned by others as far as why the Cowboys. There's probably no one left on the Jags that he knows or can even associate with besides a trainer or two. They don't even have the same ownership.

Makes sense to me and I wish him the best. As JJT said, now he can do all the bass fishing he wants now.

A lot of classless jerks here. Good luck, Gerald. Thank you for all the years you played for the star. Enjoy retirement!

A 46 inch vertical is still shocking to me. I don't think people realize how good that is. It's got to be world class. The Olympic sprinters don't even have that. A 6'2 guy can hit his head on the rim with a 46 inch vertical from a standing spot.

Yeah it was always crazy to see this guys athletic measurables. He was a freak when it came to those kinds of things.

46 inch vert is like Vince Carter status.

No offense to Gerald, but was he really worthy of the "retiring as a xxxxxx" player?

This if for the more accomplished players, imo.

Was thinking the same thing. Hope he's not expecting to be in the ROH.
I wish him well but lets move on.

I always liked Sensabaugh (except in the Minnesota playoff game:( ). Now that he wants to retire a Cowboy, I like him even more. Good luck to him.

Why would Jerruh do that for him? Seems to me that those 1 day contract type things are only for guys who have made a major impact on an organization.

I don't get it.

Probably that Jerry, the coaches, and his teammates respected him a lot more than the fans do.

I don't get the retiring as a Cowboy thing for him. His last team was the Cowboys, so wasn't that good enough? Why'd he need an arbitrary one day contract? I mean I only half understood when Colombo did his, but why Sensabaugh?

I guess better to retire a Cowboy than a Jaguar but still...

You get placed on the reserve/retired list of the team as opposed to just not pursuing a job as a free agent. It's basically just a nice gesture by the team and player.

Next up to start games when he has no business. Starting on a championship aspiring team......Will Allen. Can't wait to hear the spin job on that bum in September.

.....Redball nailed it IMO...Gerald is still a young man and is getting out while the getting is good. Smart move, and I wish him nothing but the best as he gave as good or better than he ever got.:starspin

I disagree on both accounts. I'm not so sure Allen will be "starting", he may get a generous amount of snaps, but I think our safety rotation is going to heavily rely on our rookies.

But even so, Allen is a pretty good player, and one where the comfort level between he and Monte is mutual.

Lol are you ok? I can't wonder why we always cut players and they can't find a job? That should tell you something. McCray is another guy who will be borderline jobless if we cut him.

LOL, you just basically trashed Allen before the guy even stepped on the field. The guy is a solid football player and knows Kiffin system which should help as he can help teach the younger players the system.

And for Sensabaugh? Did the fact that the guy's had 2 concussions the past seasons slip through your mind? That could be a legitimate reason why he's retiring.

And he will come out of retirement in November when we are all out of healthy safeties and need somebody to sign. ;)
