Kind of surprised he is retiring. I know his wife is hosting a charity event for the Dallas Cowboys Wives Association at their house in a couple weeks. So, maybe they just really enjoy the Dallas area and want to make it a place of stability for the kids.

Good for him. I wish him well in his future endeavors. I always thought he was a good dude. Cant believe how some people are dismissing him like he was a complete scrub or something.

Guys I just got word that Brian Price and Aaron Corp will also be retiring as Cowboys on a 1 day contract.

Good for them.

Well, I think Corp actually did sign a one day contract.

People have all types of reasons why they suddenly retire, and I know he was not world-class at safety, but he was a Dallas Cowboy, and it made an impression on him enough to want to retire with us.

For those thinking he thinks he's going in the ROH and other things, well nevermind, I don't want to insult anyone.

Thank you #cowboyszone for all of the well wishes. I appreciate the opportunity I've had and look forward to family time and fishing.

I will never be far from football and look forward to supporting @easttnstateu as they reorganize the program that started my college career

Now-retired S Gerald Sensabaugh had opportunities. But he says in a statement he'd rather do more bass fishing: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/05/09/gerald-sensabaugh-retires/2148477/

I guess #Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh can now spend his time fishing and handling his real estate now that he's retired from the #NFL.

I dont see why some of you are complaining about this. Obviously the organization meant a lot to him, sense he is signing a one day contract just to retire as a cowboy. He may not have meant a lot to you, but the cowboys meant a lot to him obviously. So im glad he retired thar way. He kinda flamed out but he put a heck of a hit on trent richardson on a 3rd and short last year!

Gee, could it be that he was a widely liked player who was a good citizen? He was here for four years, why would you begrudge this?

Off the field, yes well liked.

I dont mean it like that, good for Sensi, I've always liked him.

i just don't understand it. I always thought the whole 1 day thing was just reserved for the superstars and faces of the franchise.

There's no financial impact to the team, so sometimes they just do it to be nice. Tampa Bay signed paralyzed Rutgers DT Eric LeGrand to a one-day contract just because he played for Schiano. It's just being nice to be nice, whereas superstar/face of the franchise types get inducted into Team HOF's and Rings of Honor.

Good luck, Sensi. You always played hard and even got in a couple of big hits last year. Hope you hit the ground running.

Strange. Even if he saved his money well I can't imagine him having more than 4M after taxes and expenses. Well, 4M is a lot. Safely invested he can easily get 160k a year in interest for life.

Still I imagine at worst he could have easily gotten a 1 year, 1M deal from someone. I'm thinking its personal.

Surprised he went this route but he seems content to fish (possibly on the pro bass tour) and handle real estate. Good for him if live after the NFL is set.

As for the Cowboys, good for them. He was only cut for financial reasons. No reason not to sign him back and let him retire a Cowboy. Class guy. Body seems to have broken a down bit.

He has other business ventures it sounds like. I would think he retired knowing what his financial outlook would be like.

Good luck Sensi, must be nice to now focus on bass fishing and your own real estate ventures.
