Separating the contenders (Titans) from the pretenders (Cowboys): Per NFL Network

I guess this fool missed the part where Witten had his two longest receptions of the year on Thanksgiving.

If the Raiders attempt at "taking away Witten" is how the rest of the league is going to do it, then I'm very scared.

Teams are taking away Jason Witten, now beat up

I agree. Until the Boys do something in December or win a playoff game, this article will come up every week/year.

That's about the size of it.

He's over the top with that Cowboy haterade. I can see where in the worst case scenario the Cowboys don't win again, but it's HIGHLY inlikely. I would wager a ton against it.

One at a time. The Giants have their back completey against the wall and will be at home facing a bitter rival, so we should see their best. I still think the Boys take them--even under those dire circumstances.

As for the Titans making a run...I would love it...as it would add another exciting story line to the NFL this year and has no effect on Dallas.

And as for La Canfora---he's fairly clueless other than getting insider GM type news.

I love being the underdog. Here's hoping they keep it coming.

Even though he's coming off a seven-catch, 145-yard Thanksgiving performance, Miles Austin isn't going to bring it every week.

And this is a fact, how?

I can appreciate skepticism, but basing an opinion on pretty much nothing is a bit much. I agree that Dallas will have to prove it, but I really don't quite understand the mindset that simply because of recent history that things are set in stone.

I normally don't get too worked up over a media that is doing what it can to enflame and excite, but this is complete rubbish.

Exactly, he is predicting facts based on nothing and supporting his argument with nothing.

I usually don't care about this stuff but the venom and obvious hate in the article is hard to ignore. It's one thing to be objective but when you start saying a team "should have lost", you shouldn't even consider yourself a sports writer.

Even leaving us out of it, he has Denver as a Pretender and Miami as a Contender.

Uh, what?

At least he acknowledges that our defense has been 'better.'

The piece is empty fluff, but there are plenty on this board who've been predicting the same or worse for the last 11 months. It's pretty hard to get worked up over someone in the national media doing the same thing for the same bad reasons.

Besides, we're all setup to be one of the main Dec subplots in the NFL. If we win, we overcame the jinx and it's attentionworthy. If we lose, even better.

Get used to it. Until the team proves otherwise, we'll alway hear it. I hate hearing it as well and it's very obnoxious and annoying, but tht's just the way it is. We would probably be saying the same thing if the Eagles hadn't won a playoff game in 13 years and had a history of collapsing from December and beyond.

The only thing that gets me is if Dallas does pretty well in December they will say 'well, they haven't won a playoff game' and then if we win a playoff game they will say 'well, they've only won 1 playoff game in 13 years.'

The Cowboys record over their final 5 games over the last 4 seasons:

2-3 in 2005
1-4 in 2006
2-3 in 2007
2-3 in 2008

7-13 over those 20 games.

Even if Dallas matches their past futility's late in the season they will get to 10 wins and be in the playoffs. Two of those wins have come against the Giants. The Eagles and Giants also have to face each other during that span, which will only help Dallas whether it is for the division race or a wild card berth.

I don't see Dallas going 0-5 to end the season. If they do then they obviously don't deserve to be in the play offs. I think 2-3 gets a playoff berth and 3-2 gets the division title.

I don't see the Titans going 5-0 to end the season and that is probably what it will take for them to make the playoffs.

Exactamundo! However no matter what this team proves, the stupid articles like this one will never end.

The media hates this team, they hate the "America's Team" moniker they hate our media unfriendly coach, they hate our cocky owner, they hate our past success, they hate our fans and they know that we will stick up for our team so when they write things this, we respond and their pocketbook gets fatter.

This will never end.

Happy days are here again!

We must exercise the December curse - our team brought this criticism upon itself, but the writer's justifications for not liking this team's chances other than our December history are unfounded.

Wait till the NY media gets going this week. It should be a nice blood boiling week.

This december I believe will be different. We are healthier, we have no distractions and we have talented young skill players.

On top of that, we have a very good defense and terrific special teams.

It is absolutely comical that the eagles who gave up 24 points at home to washington get credit for an ugly win and Dallas who allowed them in the redzone once, was lucky.

We could have the perfect setup over the next two weeks. We beat the giants and a week later the giants lose that tension and come out and beat the eagles.

Yeah Dallas is 8-3.... BUT!

I hate that mentality. If we beat the Giants then we wont be stopped from getting into the playoffs.

Its on Sunday. Its time to buck up.

If we beat the Giants it's because they simply aren't good. If we beat the Eagles it's because they simply aren't good. If we beat the Commanders.... well you know.

And honestly I think the only team that the media will give us legitimacy for beating is NO.
