Separating the contenders (Titans) from the pretenders (Cowboys): Per NFL Network

who cares about this reporter or what he says. he looks like a 45 year old virgin. there is a reason why he is on lowly NFL Network. He isn't a good or respected journalist.bottom of the barrel journalism.

And this is a fact, how?

I can appreciate skepticism, but basing an opinion on pretty much nothing is a bit much. I agree that Dallas will have to prove it, but I really don't quite understand the mindset that simply because of recent history that things are set in stone.

I normally don't get too worked up over a media that is doing what it can to enflame and excite, but this is complete rubbish.

It's not that he's basing this crap on nothing, he's basing it on the fact that Miles showed up and therefore can't keep it up. Pure stupidity.

The whole article is complete nonsense. He's predicting just one wild card team for the NFC, too (Giants in, Cowboys, Packers, Falcons out). Does the Network actually pay for that kind of writing?

The Cowboys record over their final 5 games over the last 4 seasons:

2-3 in 2005
1-4 in 2006
2-3 in 2007
2-3 in 2008

.
You can date that back to about 12 years and still get the same result. It has not been pretty. Even though the scedule is almost always tough down the stretch, the Boys have not played their best at that time in the last decade or so.

It's still infuriating that he'd pick the Giants and Philthy as contenders and call the Cowboys pretenders despite the fact that the Cowboys are currently leading the division.

The Giants and Eagles both have tough Decembers as well.

Jason's getting a lump of coal in his stocking FOR SURE!!
EEEDDDIOOOTTT!

Why is that infuriating? That would seem to be the definition of a pretender. The truth of the matter is nobody knows what is going to happen and his scenario is as plausible as the ones we read on here that have us winning out and getting a bye in the playoffs. It doesn't matter, we will know in about 5 weeks or so. He is right that our schedule is brutal.

If we beat the Giants it's because they simply aren't good. If we beat the Eagles it's because they simply aren't good. If we beat the Commanders.... well you know.

And honestly I think the only team that the media will give us legitimacy for beating is NO.
I think SD is almost on par with NO right now.

When I first read that it was my first thought and I did not even know he was a Commander hack.

It just looks like something that would be written by someone who wants the Cowboys to fail, not by what has happened on the field, because we all know who beat the Eagles a few weeks ago and who just whipped the Giants like a stepchild!

I hope La Canfora gets a bat mafia style to that weasel face of his. Nothing more would make me happy than seeing that ***** with a wired up jaw and two broken legs.

I hate him so much. I hate his mother too. Fairy.

But because they struggled early in the season, the media will just say "well looks like SD is going back to their old ways..."

Let the media insult our team.......I really dont understand y they always put the BOYS down. As a big fan all i can say , ignore media and lets start by beating Giants next week. PS: and when we beat giants, media will say giants injured, manning not 100% etc lol

I feel the same way as this guy this is going to be a tough stretch. He is on the money about Miles Austin. If we're going to depend on him to make plays for us then where as good as finished.

Also love how we SHOULD have lost to KC and WASHINGTON, but the EAGLES probably have the worst loss, Oakland, than any other NFC contending team and it is just brushed aside like no big deal! Whatever, we will only shut these people up by winning games.

gUnit is becoming a favorite poster because of quotes like this. Also, I'm not 100% sure he's joking most of the time.

We all know what this team does in December. Historically, Tony Romo has been awful in the season's final month, and the schedule down the stretch is brutal. Teams are taking away Jason Witten, now beat up, and no one else is stepping up on a consistent basis. Even though he's coming off a seven-catch, 145-yard Thanksgiving performance, Miles Austin isn't going to bring it every week. The defense has been better, but the history of late-season collapse is very real and hard to shake. With two other very capable teams in the division right on their heels, and a loss to Green Bay a potential wild-card killer, I don't like their chances. Even in two of their wins, over Washington and Kansas City, the Cowboys were awful and should have lost. I see it all catching up with them in the end.

Can't really argue with any of this. We've flamed out so often in December that I refuse to believe this team can succeed until they actually do it.

Based on Wade's history of late-season collpases everywhere he's been, coupled with this core group of players sheer ineptitude in December and January, I can easily see this team going 1-4 down the stretch. One loss to the Giants and it all goes downhill. The mindset sets in, and we don't have a coach capable of righting the ship.

824 yds and 8 tds later and you're still not impressed?

Jeez, when you hate a player, you really hate 'em.

But it's ok, you probably thought that Felix Jones TD run was unimpressive too?

This is why I love the Zone.

Sure would be weird if La Canfora doesn't show up for work tomorrow, or ever.

Does no one say that the Eagles should have lost to the Bears and Commanders?? I guess Cutler and Campbell have become their best friends.

I should stress, in no way am I advocating hitting LaCanfora's fairly-weasel-face with an actual bat.
