We’ve disagreed on many things but your comments in here are spot on. I’m from DFW area …well got here at 1. My family came from Baltimore and were Colts fans. snd was born in 70. By mid 70s all kids I knew were Boys fans and I became a diehard. It was 20 years of SBs snd bliss except a few years. But heck the 1-15 team showed more heart than a lot of the teams with better records. You could see growth, My heartache has hit more the last 10-15 years since Jerry brought n Garrett and just acted like he didn’t care except getting a “product” out there and being right. I’d love to see a few years where they do it differently
My hope is once Stephen takes charge at some point he will hire a real GM.
The GM makes a huge difference.
See the Shegals for an example.

Idk but every year that goes by I feel more and more inclined to not put my future kids through this torture
I think after my generation moves on, the following of the Boys and attendence at games will decline.
Jerry is living off of past glory and I don't think most younger fans are going to want to follow a perennial loser.
Of course by that time Jerry will not be around any longer either, and hopefully his offspring with hire a real GM.

Why are you fans of the team when they have under performed so much in the past 28 years?

I have been a fan for 47 years and seen success and SB victories.
I have developed a loyalty to this team, and cant imagine following another team.
So, I will follow them no matter how poorly run they are.

But you young fans, what keeps you following this team ?

It is certainly not because of playoff success.

Does the circus and entertainment aspect of the team that Jerry has created draw you in ?

Just an older curious fan here.

Thanks, John
As a 58 year fan, that is an excellent question.

The youngsters deserve to see one.......may simmer the anger and vitriol towards some players, a bit.

I was there for 1 and 15.
Felt better about the franchise then than I do now because, Jimmy Johnson had the vision and ability
as Head Football Man to turn the team around.
Can you imagine the gumption he must of had to trade their best player for that boatload of picks from the Vikes?
I also recall Kevin Kiley at the time saying, “The Cowboys are going after the best available athlete and SPEED. All his fellow commentators laughed at him .. 2 years later-not so much.

I wouldnt say Im young by any stretch. I started liking the Cowboys in the 70s when I was a kid watching Staubach. I grew up in New England and the Patriots sucked back then.

I honestly wish I had never done it. Would have been better going through the Brady and Belli years. As it stands I have more respect for Brady than any player in any sport ever.

If I could take a pill or shot and magically no longer like the Cowboys I would do it instantly. Cant stand Jerry and the way the Cowboys run their teams. Its like a curse now.
Tony Eason was a good QB

I don’t have many good options. When we moved from Houston to Chicago we had my son. He liked the Bears while there. He knows we are a Cowboy family so once we got back here he yells with me. So this choice is better than the Chicago choice

24 years old here. I was not alive at the time of the Cowboys last NFC Championship appearance.

To put it simply, what keeps me going with the Cowboys is a hope for a brighter day. I have seen other franchises break their curses and know that given enough seasons Dallas will do the same. Now, I may have quite a few more years to wait for that to happen but, God willing, I've got the time.

I've lived through and watched the entire Romo-Prescott era with all of its drama and disapointment and have no recollection of what came before. Dez Bryant, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, and Demarcus Ware were my heroes. I remember the three 8-8 seasons in a row being particularly torturous and given all of the years this team couldn't do it, I'm still thrilled when they just make the playoffs.

I know that when that Super Bowl comes, the 30+ years of waiting will only make it better but man, I don't know how many more of these seasons I can take. This year I made an effort to become significantly less emotionally invested since it felt counter productive to allow the Cowboys to ruin my Sundays. For this reason, the playoff loss did not hurt as bad as they have in the past but for whatever reason I will never stop entirely caring about this team.

25 here.

My dad is a fan. Raised in Fort Worth as a kid in the Air Force, watching Rodger the Dodger.

He used to be as passionate of a fan as I am now. But nowadays, when the game is on, he’s halfway paying attention, and halfway watching a Netflix on his iPad.

To answer your question, I’m still a fan because it’s all I’ve ever known. Rooting for another team feels unnatural.

Not trying to say you should not be a fan.
Glad you are here.
Just curious what keeps you engaged in the team with such dismal post season performances?
Man what a good question. For me it comes down to front running. Now that I m a granpa I don't care, but when I was young I could not stand Cowboys fans that came on after we won SB'S. No one was reppin the Boys while Bradshaw

and The Steelers had our number and I'd rather have a wisdom tooth extracted with out Novocain, than root for the Steelers. I didn't hate the Steelers, I admire any one who plays, I just loved the Cowboys. My first running back hero was

Duane Thomas and Calvin Hill. Hearing my brother brag about Bullet Bob was something special. I realized very early , we weren't going to win it every year. I don't let others set my expectations of success. Football is a Game I love

I love Pre Season, I love regular season, I love Playoffs, hell I even love the Draft. Not gonna let another man's expectations of success spoil my love for football or the Cowboys. Some say you're first or your last, well that's crazy where I

come from you give it your all and what ever happens , happens and One Team wins and everybody else sucks eggs ? To me that's pathetic. There's more to life and football than winning the championships.

Dismal playoff performances BE DAMNED lol. You think I didn't enjoy the Vikings beat down because it was regular season ? Beating the Bengals with Cooper Rush starting at QB ? I had the time of my life!!!!!

This is some real wisdom right here. If you don't take in and enjoy the moments in life that come between the high points, you set your self up for misery.

I was 7 buddy and the Cowboys were always winning and looking good doing it. NE was a joke. I didnt even know what a front runner was at the time. Ive stayed true through all these pathetic years so dont be calling me a front runner.

I do regret it as this team run by Jerry has been largely a joke and will be until he is no longer running it.
I'm going to back you up here.

I also grew up in the 70's in New England. Throughout that era I knew ONE person who was a Pats fan. My age group was all over the place with their fandom. When you're 7 years old and Boston is three hours away and in a different state, it might as well be on another continent.

If anything, the "local" team was the Giants. The majority of my Father's generation were Giants fans with a smattering of Jets fans.

Funny story. My stepfather was a Giants fan. He decided to switch to the Pats one year. Guess which year? That's right.... 2007! lololol

Yep and I was in Western Mass. Mass doesnt even have a team. And why would anyone latch onto the horrid Pats at the time? My Father liked the Giants as well.

How can this be a serious question? Do you think fans just trade teams every few years? Do you think young fans only become fans of a team when they have won a title?

Seriously, to me this question is absolutely ridiculous. I have 4 daughters.... all are Cowboy fans. The 2 oldest went to a SB party prior to Dallas beating Buffalo. The 2 younger have never seen the team win a SB. So do you actually think kids that have Cowboys jerseys, have gone to training camp, have spoken to players, gotten autographs, traveled to Dallas routinely for the season opener are going to give all of that up to root for team xyz because Dallas doesnt win titles? Why do the browns have a singe fan?

Do you think the younger "Fans," of this team are just gonna jump on over and be a Bengals fan now?
