Need a history lesson?

At 13-7 we needed Neil to bail us out. They were moving the all pretty good. 13-7 became 20-7. Thanks Neil/Larry.

Again, at 20-7, we needed Neil to bail us out again. 20-7 became 27-7.

Stealers scored 10 points in last quarter.

Without those ints we could have lost 31-13 or 24-20.
Don't tell me you weren't thinking that or weren't worried while that was happening.

Perhaps you need the history lesson. The score was never 27-7 in that game. Your own description does not fit what happened in that game. You say Dallas played like Jimmy's team in the first half, yet the score was only 13-7. You say they turned into the Ringling Bros as soon as the second half started, yet they actually extended the lead. Dallas didn't turn the ball over in the game or really do anything to shoot themselves in the foot. The defense played well all day.

Nope I was never worried in that game. The Steelers could not consistently sustain drives during that game. The turnovers were just a matter of time. Dallas had already forced a couple of fumbles in the game that Pittsburgh were lucky to recover.

I am curious.

Do you think he could set this ship in the right direction?

Please don't bother posting:

A.) that the game had changed and passed him by. He is smarter than Parcells in that respect. He would adapt where Bill refused to.

B.) that he failed in Miami.

C.) Jerry would never let it happen.

The question is, could he come in here, have that press conference stating how things are going to change and anything less than winning is unacceptable and get us going in right direction again (again, as in again since he left and again, as in his second stint as leader of boys).

I think time has passed Jimmys assistants by, not to mention Norv was a find that gets over looked. Jimmy was lost when it came to who was calling the offense but if he could somehow figure out how to be a complete A hole again without turning the team and new assistants against him he could win some games but as the old saying goes "You can never go back home".

Jimmy isn't coming back. Being involved in an organization takes too much out of you. There is no reason for him to come back in any capacity and risk tarnishing his name. He'll continue to enjoy his role as a mentor to other coaches and at the luxury of being on a boat.

How so? Didn't he fire David Shula to bring in Norv? Sounds to me like a guy that knew what he wanted out of his offense and he wasn't getting it from Shula. For a guy that was lost, he sure got lucky a bunch of times with his assistant coaches.

I just meant as far as his staff goes he had to find an NFL guy, it wasn't something he could bring with him from Miami and he couldn't call the offensive plays himself even if he wanted to.
