This thread has a few things of interest to me.

Let me start with the AP thing.

- I agree with Zordon that he's very likely not going to face any jail time, no matter what comes of any of the things going on around him. So he'll be looking to play somewhere other than Minny next year.
- I don't think it's going to be in Dallas due to the very bright negative light the signing of him will bring to whoever takes that chance. I'd bet he winds up in someplace like Oakland instead.
- Whoever signs him is going to do so knowing that there is very likley a league suspension coming his way regardless of jail time or not. To my knowledge the league has yet to give him any sort of punishment on these things, in relation to their personal conduct policy, and the suspension he is on right now (Or whatever they're calling it) is from the Vikings simply telling them they don't want him there. You can believe that if he pleads guilty, is found guilty, whatever, regardless of jail time, he's going to serve an NFL suspension.

LeSean McCoy/Demarco Murray:

- I've said all along I'm not interested in giving a huge money contract to Murray or any runningback. I stand by that at this point as well. I don't want huge money on any runningback.
- If the Eagles are going to cut McCoy for that small of an increase from this year to next then you better believe it's going to signal to the league that runningbacks simply aren't going to be paid that kind of money. In that case it actually helps us keep Murray for much less.
- Straight up, between the two, same contracts and everything I'll take McCoy every single time.

Since the Vikings are already suspending AP, he's going to already have served it. The NFLPA and AP would have a field day if the league tried to suspend him twice for the same thing.

Yeah I would avoid AP .. He has a few legal issues and from what I have heard and read it's only the tip of the iceberg

No to McCoy as well

Are you referring to the issues addressed in post #40 ?

All AP crapola aside, I get the feeling that maybe, just maybe this year has / will teach Jerry (and he is the one that has to be restrained) not to overpay for a skill position player from another team. Particularly a running back whose best years are behind him. He may overpay DM slightly, but that is homegrown talent and as they say, the devil you know...

i don't think ap will be playing next year. if he is convicted and i think he will be although it could be on a lesser count, he will then have a suspension by the league. i don't think any rb is going to get a huge payday next year. teams seem to not be payinh those crazy prices for rb's anymore. i don't see anyone getting much more than 5 mil but we shall see

He isn't suspended right now. He is on the exempt list. He is still getting paid, which makes it different than being suspended. He is missing games and I do think that will be taken into consideration when and if the league suspends him. That decision looks like it won't happen until next year and I truly doubt he sees a year long suspension for next season.

Brent voluntarily took time off and still got hit with 10 games. The league is making a huge issue over child abuse and domestic violence. If Peterson gets convicted at all, he will get a suspension and there will be stigma attached to him.

But he won't get a season long suspension. Not even close. He will probably get less than Brent.

Like others have said, paid or not, he wasn't allowed to play this season and he can't get those games back. He may face a fine comparable to a 6 game suspension, but I can't see the NFLPA allowing them to suspend him again.

I will just say I don't know exactly on that sort of thing but I understood that what a team does has absolutely zero bearing on what the league does. I could be wrong on that but that's my understanding because I could have swore that exact argument came up about Josh Brent before he retired to avoid suspension. People were saying Dallas should get out ahead of it and the team suspend him, which I think they did for the remainder of that season, and they reported then that it would have zero effect on what the league chose to do. Which as you saw this season the league suspended him anyway.

Now I could be completely wrong about that but I could have swore that's how I remembered it going.

I've heard the commissioner in the past say that he only intervenes when the team has failed to.
