I wasn’t comparing *how* they got injured. I was trying to get a reasonable comp for how much a missing hand might affect his play at the pro level. Ie, how important a hand is for an NFL defender. There’s not a lot of precedent here.

Looking at the drop off off one guy who played with and without a full hand is a fairly reasonable comparison.

Pierre-Paul played one year with a damaged hand at a very similar level to pre-injury, and then he fell off a cliff this year. Not sure what the root cause behind that drop-off is.

I'd say two hands are probably more important for a LB than a DE.
For one, the DE is bigger and stronger. However, JPP did miss a few tackles/sacks due to the handicap.

Now picture this young kid trying to tackle Ajay or Blount with one hand.
Also, the quicker players will know to juke to the handicap. Picture someone like
LeSean McCoy in open field against this kid.

I say let him be a good story for another team.

Hands are probably pretty important for both. At least it gives you a sense of what the liability is. It’s pretty hard to handicap it, otherwise.

Right. I would prefer everyone on the team have all their limbs and digits.

He’s an awesome story. It’s just another unknown you have to take into account. At the right spot, he could be a good value. It just depends where that is.

I agree. I think a team can get caught up in emotion and take him a little early. I hope it's not us.
That said, I wish him luck. He's am impressive and inspiring human being.

Pierre-Paul blew off a finger and mangled another. Griffin literally does not have an entire hand.

I don't think it is a reasonable comparison at all.

I’ll add it to the list of things we disagree on.

At least part of the time JPP is playing with a cast on that right hand though. I know he tried to make a go with a glove, but think he had to go back to the club last season.

It’s about as good a comp as we’re going to get. Especially since we have the baseline of him before injury.

We have 10 picks currently, they will all not make this team...I honestly do not have a problem picking this kid up around round 5 or so...I would think that when he is hustling in practice and wanting to get an extra rep in trying to get better and still "prove it" to the NFL, perhaps, PERHAPS mind you, that would rub off on some of the other players....."if 'lefty' can work that hard, I had better work harder too...."

8.5 sacks. Nearly 70 tackles.

95% of the DEs in the league would love to fall off your imaginary cliff

5th round, 9th pick. Book it.

Seahawks get a guy who at worst is a special teams are. Feel good story of the year. Only problem for coaches is telling him and his twin brother apart.
