Shocking stat on Cooper

How many rookie QBs make any WR look good?

That's my point. You want to have good receivers in place in order to develop your QB the right way. You can get a QB in the first round, he's not going to develop quickly with D. Thomson, Beasley and A. Hurns as your main receivers.

But if you don’t have a first round pick how do you acquire the QB? Keep on waiting?

A lot of QBs turn out fine without having a great supporting cast.

In fact I would say WR is the most overrated position in football and you’re not seeing a lot of big time WRs win championships.

Name one young QB that turn out fine without having a great supporting cast. Only one I can think of is Russel Wilson. But he didn't have to do much as a young QB. They won with defense and run game.

Why do you think the Rams went and spent a 1st round draft pick on Cooks this year when they already had a great offense last year? Why do you think the Falcons drafted Ridley in the 1st round when they already had a great receiving corp?

Unless you have a QB like Brees, Brady or Rogers, you are not going to do well with no name receivers.

You changed the criteria.

I’m fine with getting the WR but not before I have the QB unless you’re drafting and WR just happens to be best available or something.

Plenty of QBs have walked into situations that weren’t the best and turned out fine.

Name one QB that had receivers like ours tha t turned out fine. In fact name one good offense that has receivers as bad as ours.

I know most of us were shocked and upset about the first round pick.

But Cooper is a stud. He has everything you want in a receiver.

Again, it sucks to give up the first. But Cooper is legit.
Must be slow, had like 4 passes go over his head down the sideline

I'll admit I was a big "NO" to the trade. I was wrong about that. I hope he continues to contribute more and more.

He is an incredible route runner.

As I said before, he is a 6-1, 210 pound Beasley with more speed. Cooper might actually win in a change of direction contest over Beasley.

Now if we can just do a deep accurate ball to him.

I never like giving away a 1st rounder, but Cooper is worth it. He's young, talented, and will be a Cowboy for a long time. If you think about it, WR and TE are our #1 need. Some will say QB is #1, but I don't see us getting a quality QB next year in the #1 round.

Hurns is a #4. Thompson is a camp body. Williams was running on fumes. Beasley, Gallup and Cooper as the top 3 receivers all day with Hurns coming in on 4 WR sets until Austin is healthy.
No question Beasley, Gallup and Cooper are your top 3.

cooper has had 2 consecutive games of at least 5 rec for 58 yards.

The last time a Cowboy accomplished both those marks in consecutive games was Jason Witten first two games of last year.

Looks like Cowboys finally have a weapon that can’t be totally neutralized like Beasley, Zeke, Dez the last 2 years just by putting extra attention on them.

That is what a #1 receiver is.

The last time I witness this record-breaking feat I think I had hair.

Linehan needs to figure out some routes where Dak can get Cooper the ball more easilly. Its clear that Dak cannot hit those go routes up the sideline. Cooper should have had 150 yards last night. He was open all night long.

You don't need the stats to know the Dallas WR corps went downhill badly in 2017 and disappeared completely this year until Cooper arrived.
Sometimes players just need a change of scenery. Cooper probably saw the writing on the wall in Oakland. If you knew behind the scenes your employer is trying to get rid of you, would you give them your best work, especially in a very physically demanding occupation?

The thing about the Cooper trade, which I'll never like because I would marry the draft if I could, is that that one move basically solidified a pretty pathetic WR group. He's your 1. Gallup is your 2. Beasely your 3 and Hurns your 4. All legit. No glaring hole there.
I admire your ability to use nuance for a change instead of not being able to see past your feelings about the move.
