Should Awuzie be fast tracked to start now?

With the Carroll DUI, and rumor of 1-2 game suspension perhaps to start the season, does the coaching staff start prepping Awuzie to start at outside CB by giving him more first-team reps in OTA's and TC over Carroll? Eventually going to be his job anyway, so maybe he should be prepared to start from Day 1 and not look back. Thoughts?

I would say this should be the plan. unless they plan to cut Nolan and get another vet cb in as soon as possible.

Yes, they are already giving him reps outside, probably see more after this event.

A suspension wouldn't happen until a guilty verdict which would be quite some time down the line. Michael Floyd got a ring with the patriots in similar situation and plead guilty afterwards and he's looking at his 2nd offense.

Maybe so. But you never know if the court fast tracks the case, or denies a continuance of the trial, and he is found guilty mid-season and suspended immediately. If that's possible, why prepare him as a starter? Maybe just prepare him as a depth backup.

He wasn't drafted to start right away. As of right now, he would be 4th on the depth chart.

I think Azuzie will get first crack at it but don't rule out Jordan who I think from technique stand point is further along.

Carroll, Scandrick and Brown are all ahead of him and will likely be ahead of him unless he earns a spot in training camp. He should have every opportunity to earn significant reps but a late second round pick is not going to be drafted to start over 3 veterans.

Maybe...Carroll was bad last season but he was very good before that.

He should compete for the job and if the coaches fee he is a better option than the veterans, get him on the field. No way anyone can say he is better than anyone at this point...this team has very bad luck drafting corners so I would prefer the player to be ready before he sees the field since CB is 80 percent confidence in this league.

If you think, as bad as the secondary was, that every athlete drafted wasn't considerd a starter..... Dallas is doing it wrong. C'mon man. Depth charts don't exist, at least they shouldn't, prior to TC.

Carroll stinks AND.....just got busted. Boom......guess who just got bumped up in the " depth chart".
