Should Darren Woodson be in the Cowboys Ring of honor?

So Moose has pride in his old team. If he shades the truth about this team because of that pride he is a homer. Just like Irvin.

And I appreciate both of those men as Cowboys a great deal. Irvin is my favorite player. And I say that reluctantly since I am not a fanboy. or stopped being a fanboy years ago.

My bone of contention with Emmitt is he is a horse's butt. He will not sign an autograph for some kid and actually make the comment, you're dad will sell it later so I'm not doing it.

Emmitt, if it weren't for the fans, you may not have had a college degree. If you have one at all.

But having said that, Emmitt got the record because he had perseverance.

McCoy - I look like a real boob for forgetting Woody made the ROH.

But your comment on Troy and Romo bailed me out of being the biggest boob in this thread. No offense but that was absurdly ridiculous.

We agree on Emmitt. It's nice to see someone get what I'm saying there. I'm not the only fan who has said such things about Troy. It's just not popular to say during the offseason because we forget what he says during the season. I don't know. I just don't like Troy the person that much unlike Romo. He was a great player though. And Woody is not in the ROH. And boobs. Boobs are good.

Troy is uncompromising. He was as a player and is as an announcer.

Put together a Dallas Cowboy team that shows the same ethics and excellence as the early 90's and then listen to him shout their praises.

I can take that because I understand it is a genuine feeling from him not motivated by allegiances.

I still appreciate a straight shooter. I prefer my coffee without milk and sugar.

Eh, I'm talking about when the Cowboys do things good or when it's close, he doesn't even have pride for the team he once played for. At least I never hear it. Criticize the team all you want. I really can't pin it down other than I think Troy Aikman has to be the most annoying broadcaster I've ever listened to. I'm not the only Dallas fan who thinks this. Many have said the same thing after a game during the regular season.

I love both Troy and Moose in the booth... I think Moose especially has some of the best insights. If you ask fans of other teams, they say Troy is an unabashed Cowboys homer. I'm pretty sure it's all about perspective. As for Romo, it's pretty hard to find people that love him more than Troy, who has loved him since basically day one. From August 2005:

"Former Dallas Cowboys great Troy Aikman
has a pretty good idea of what an NFL quart-
erback looks like.

As the future Hall of Fame quarterback
watched third-year quarterback Tony Romo
go through drills during a practice last week
in Oxnard, Aikman said he was impressed
by what he saw.

"If you didn't know anything about (Romo)
and you just watch him throw the ball, you
would think he had to be a high-round pick,"
Aikman said. "He really throws the ball well."

Those are pretty impressive words about a
quarterback who has yet to take one snap in
a regular-season NFL game."

Interesting. But I have not heard this love lately.

Not just yes but heck yes.

Right after the triplets. He was that good and that important to our 3 titles in the 90's.

We'll agree to disagree, my friend. I just don't get the feeling he appreciates the fact he was a Cowboy like Moose, Woodson or Novacek. Granted, he was an outstanding player. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how he disses the Cowboys and roots for the Commanders and what not.

I knew you didn't mean any shot at his talent or what he did here. I didn't confuse that. :)

I still think you're just taking what he does as an analyst way to personal toward the Cowboys but we will agree to disagree as you said.

Simple question; Woodson started and finished his career in Dallas (not that it matters) Is the all time leader in tackles.

He set a Cowboys franchise record for tackles for a defensive back, with 155 in hid second season.
5× Pro Bowl selection (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998)
3× All-Pro selection (1994, 1995, 1996)
3× Super Bowl champion (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX)

What do you think? In or Not?

Serious question?

Of course he should be.

I think that's what it comes down to right there. Fans here loved Aikman, so when they hear him being objective in his present career, some take it the wrong way. I've heard him compliment things we do well numerous times during the course of games he works for us. Some just focus too much on the critiques or criticisms he has for us because they think every word that comes out of his mouth about the Dallas Cowboys should be sunshine and rainbows.

Kind of a double standard really.. most fans right now hate on this organization all the time in its current state. Im sure Troy sees exactly what we see.. an organization that desperately needs to get its act together right now. If he comments on something of that nature or notices us being unorganized on the field or not playing the right way, of course he's going to be critical of that. I have no doubt he wants to see this organization return to its former glory just as much as the rest of us do.

Great Cowboy but it's I think he's in the NFL Hall of the "Very Good".

He was a great player, however, he averaged less than 2 interceptions per season over his career (23 interceptions in 12 years) and only 17 (according to NFL.com, 12 if you go by Pro Football Reference) forced fumbles in his career.

There are guys like Darren Sharper with 63 interceptions, who are considered very borderline for the HoF.

In summary, I believe Woodson should be on the RoF, not the HoF.

Yes. He was the best safety of the last 30 years in Dallas.

He man covered slot WRs, TEs and produced over 800 career tackles.
He was the epitome of a strong safety.
He hit people and covered guys.

Unfortunately he played in an era that undervalued safeties.

He should be, but not making the All-Decade Team of the 90s (he should have) hurts his chances. That said, Cliff Harris made the All-Decade Team of the 70s, even getting the 10th-highest number of votes for that team, and he isn't in the HOF either.

The selection committee grossly undervalues safeties, and has held Cowboys to a higher standard historically. Woody's chances for the HOF seem slim.

Nein!
Nein!

Woodson was a good player. A good citizen. A respected Cowboy.

However he does not rise to the level of the Staubachs, Irvins, Whites and Lillys.

There is no dishoner in being a great player who does not get into the ROH.

Please keep the ROH special and don't open the floodgates to the Bill Bates of the world. Don't shoot, I half my pith helmet on.
