Should have drafted defense instead of Escobar, Randle, T-Will, Street

The team doesn't have a long term vision. Everybody sees how erratic Jerry is in interviews. That's how he is with the team as well. Like @PoundTheRock said, they change plans every offseason. One year Jerry wants a dline like dem Giants...then the next year he says he would luhhhh to have some linebackers like dem Niners....then he wants the 4-3 like Seattle....then he wants Tony to be more like Peyton....then he wants Jason to no longer have playcaller duties....the identity/vision is constantly changing around here and the scouts (bless their hearts) have to be pulling their hair out b/c they don't know what to recommend in the draft b/c of it.

Bu why didn't you complain about it earlier? You sure seemed happy about this teams direction when they we're rolling earlier tis season. Now, one bad loss, and boom, there you are back on the ledge again.

The Escobar pick could pay huge dividends down the road. He's shown flashes and we all know it. If Witten ever is out or retired, this guy can really fill in and do a great job. The Randle pick - yeah this guy is nothing that couldn't have been found pretty easilly without using a draft pick.
Spot on with Escobar but Randle has looked very good this year.

I agree with you there. I didn't like the pick but I also don't like drafting for need either. Drafting for need is how you end up with Morris Claiborne.

There is a fine line between drafting BPA and need. If you need DBs and the BPA is a kicker, do you draft the kicker?
I don't think so.

My main point about Escobar is, if you had a plan to use the TE to mainly block, why draft a TE known for pass catching who is a poor blocker with a high pick? That's just ridiculous.

Ehhh well people don't even draft kicker anymore lol. I get what your point is. If you have a tight end on your roster and you're sitting there in the 2nd round and you see a corner you had a 3rd or 4th round grade on and you see a tight end who you think can be a game changer and he had a late 1st or early 2nd round grade on him....I don't fault them for taking the tight end. Would I? No. Escobar is not getting on the field because of his blocking though. He's not getting on the field because he has Witten here.

You'll get no disagreement from me that in hindsight it was a silly pick. But IMO, they didn't really pass up much in that 2nd round in regards to defensive players. Drafting for "need" has bit this team and may others in the NFL in the arse numerous times. So i'd be careful about that.

I don't think it's just Witten. If that's the case, why is Hanna getting on the field more than him?

I think the main problem is that this coaching staff keep chaging their offensive philosophy. They wanted to run the 2 TE offense like NE few years back and now they want to be more run oriented offense where TEs block more than catch passes.

This is terrible way to build your team. I think same thing happened with Claiborn and Carr. We wanted to get CBs who are better at man coverage when Ryan was here. We then changed our defense where we need CBs who are better at zone and can tackle better.
