Should Jimmy Johnson go into the Ring of Honor?

Why he shouldn't/won't: His tenure at Dallas was extremely short (5 years) compared to the rest of the members of the Ring of Honor.


Why he should: He led the Cowboys to two Super Bowl titles - as many as Landry did in 29 years - and was a big reason that Dallas won its 3rd in four years.

He definitely should be in the ROH. Doesn't matter how long he was HC, Cowboys won 2 SB with him & a 3rd in 95 with essentially his personnel. It's also obvious that he's not interested in returning to coaching with anyone. It's time to put him in the ROH, if he willing. Jerry should get it done this year. There's probably a few other long-time Cowboys who should also joint him in the ROH this year.

I read a thread once that said that the 1995 Cowboys team was 30% different, in terms of personnel, than the one that won the 1993 Super Bowl.

Forget that tenure stuff! 2 Super Bowls in 5 years is phenomenal! Landry has a Fedora by his name, Johnson can have hair!

If Haley is in then Johnson should be in for sure. He was responsible for more Super Bowls than the great Tom Landry - I give JJ credit for all three SB wins in the 90's.

I'll stand up and disagree...no to Jimmy Johnson for me.

The ring of honor was never about super bowls or trophies; it is about career with the Cowboys. Early players in the ring were about defining the Cowboys and all they sacrificed making the Cowboys the franchise they are.

Guys like Jimmy, Deon, and others helped us win titles, but that alone does not put you in the ring of honor for me.

Airman, Irvin, and Smith won three titles in a short time; had they immediately left in free agency and played half their careers elsewhere, I wouldn't put them in the ring either.

Jimmy built a team that won 3 Super Bowls. Of course he belongs in the Ring.

Then again, a lot of other deserving Cowboys deserve to be in the Ring but they aren't.

A better question is would Jimmy Johnson show up if he were ever selected for induction into the ROH. He's rarely stepped foot in Irving since he left. He wasn't even in Canton for The Triplets HOF inductions (that I know of). He doesn't seem to want to look back much, at least not publicly.

I'm a tad ambivalent but lean towards him being in it. My ambivalence is due to the short time being a Cowboy. My guess is it will happen.
