Should Jimmy Johnson go into the Ring of Honor?

It's Landry hero worship.

The guy was most responsible for bringing more hardware to Dallas than any other, but let's keep him out because I don't want my hero disrespected.

I do agree with one thing he said there should only be one head coach in the ROH and that's Tom Landry. He dedicated 28 years of his life to the Cowboys and never walked away from the team. Jimmy never stayed longer than 5 years with any team he coached.

He left the Cowboys because of his own doing. I appreciate everything Jimmy did with the Cowboys but to see his name along side Tom Landry in the ROH wouldn't set very well with me. A player or a coach has to put in more than 5 years to get into the ROH in my opinion. There's other ways Jimmy can be honored for what he did in Dallas.

It isn't longevity, it's what he does while he's here that counts. Landry was a great coach. Putting Jimmy in doesn't diminish anything that Landry did. Jimmy built a dynasty here and deserves to be honored for doing so.

The thread title should be "When will he" not Should. What Jimmy has done here for this organization automatically gets him in.

If Jerry was smart he would do this sooner rather than later.

I say yes, but have a feeling it will be at least 3 to 5 years before it happens.

I think JJ wants to win another SB and his first true SB without Jimmy or a jimmy team coached by one of 500 hand picked men of JJ.

Not a knock on Barry as I do give him credit for winning a SB.

But this will be a JJ ego driven induction....after Dallas wins a SB.

Without question. 5 years is a long time in football. He would've been here longer if Jerry wasn't such an egotistical clown.

I don't think so . Jimmy had Miami on the brain. I appreciate everything that Jimmy accomplished in Dallas, but I have serious doubts about his long term loyalty to the organization. I don't consider Jimmy a Cowboy for life like the ROH members. I don't think he considers himself a Cowboy either . He sure keeps distance from the team.

The minute Haley went in, it opened the door for Jimmy. The only excuse to keep him out of the ROH (longevity) no longer exist. Who do people here consider more of a Cowboy and who had a greater impact/influence on the 90's dynasty, Haley or Jimmy? Jimmy hands down.

The ROH was tarnished some by putting Charles Haley in so the door has been opened to put Jimmy in but I don't see it happening. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to the ROH I prefer players and coaches who put a lot of time into the organization and were true Dallas Cowboys. Until Haley was inducted that was what the ROH consisted of. Jimmy deserves to be honored in some fashion he did a remarkable job in Dallas and built some of the greatest teams the organization has ever produced but I have a problem with him being part of the ROH because of the way things ended with him. He started talking about coaching another team during the Cowboys SB run in 93. He rocked the boat and left the team because of his own doing. By him leaving the way he did it hurt the Cowboys chances at 3 straight SB wins.

It was his ego that caused everything to go down the way it did. I doubt Jerry will ever put Jimmy into the ROH I'm sure he still carries some bitter feelings from what happened between them plus his ego would never allow him to toast Jimmy with a ROH induction because Jerry still wants most of the credit for building those SB teams. The credit for those teams was part of the rift between him and Jimmy. They both wanted the credit and Jerry inducting Jimmy into the ROH would be giving Jimmy most of the credit and Jerry is not about to do that. Those SB teams are all Jerry has to hang his hat on.

If Haley is a fan favorite for the ROH, then his tenure as a Cowboy would seem to validate Jimmy Johnson's tenure for the ROH.
