Should Romo just retire?

They don't show that sunday on fox and to be honest, you really won't care that he will be able to play with his kids or not.

This guy is a football player first and foremost. He will play through as much pain as a player can possibly play though (see the Washington game). He is not going to retire. Spare me the throwing the ball around with your kid garbage. The guy is an athlete who can throw a football 65 yards, he will be able to throw a baseball 30 feet with his kids and even his grandkids. People on here say they have had back surgeries and while I sympathize with those people (my father had major back and neck surgery) we tend to forget that Tony gets the best of the best as far as a surgery, therapy and any other medical attention.
Is that why Romo moves around so well these days?

Well - Again, exactly my (other) point.

Romo isn't going anywhere. Not to prove anyone wrong, not to play for Jerry Jones, not even to prove to himself that he simply can do it - He simply has a competitive fire and spirit that no one can logically verbalize a rational retirement situation for him. He's here to stay because he wants to. He wants to take his team to the Superbowl, because he wants to. He comes back in the game with no second thoughts half broken down with pain shots because he wants to - Because he wants to win. There's nothing you can tell this man that will pull him out of his competitive spirit, fighting for his team that he's endured so much through the years for.

With all of what you said, don't take me wrong, I do partially agree - But, in light of the fact, that, honestly... the hit he took for this season was a fluke... He's coming back stronger than ever after our bye in week 8, and going to stand there and do what he does best - Command and run this team.

A man's decision is his own, and in all honesty, I think even if he does play another 2-3 years, he will be just fine. Assuming no freak nature contact such as what just happened hits him again, and I'm going to be there every game of every season to love watching him fight for every moment he wants to take us right through the playoffs.

Chalk it up to family and future all you want, but to put it in Layman's terms...

Romo's not going anywhere.

And I can't wait to be a part of it.

Why is every injury Romo had the past 2 years or so a "fluke" injury?

Either it isn't a fluke he is getting hurt OR he is the unluckiest man in the NFL...

Yeah, he doesn't move around well at all these days.

It seems Romo has become incredibly brittle and should probably retire.
If Romo retires during the season, what happens to the salary cap?

Ok, so here I go on a rant about what I believe the next step for Romo should be. I keep seeing people talking about how he isnt going to walk away from all the money and what have you. Which is fair. I wouldnt either. At the end of the day though, he has a family and needs to start thinking of the big picture. So my solution for this is retirement. Now, before you all go off on me here. Let me explain. Jerry Jason and Stephen need to sit him down, and explain that seeing him in a wheelchair is not a good thing, during this conversation, they offer him a job as a coach of some sort, like assistant QB coach or whatever. The money he loses by retiring, can then be paid to him as his salary as a coach. I dont know how the exact logistics of it would work, but I do think this is a course of action that could possibly be beneficial to all parties involved. Thoughts?

I like the coach idea. Give him Garrett's job.

He has my support in any case. :) After hearing that it was just a fluke and had nothing to do with any of his other injuries, that makes things look a bit better, but he sure does seem snakebit.

I have never considered this. But I have to say the idea of Romo as the offensive coordinator is intriguing. Maybe not starting at that position, but I don't believe it would take more than a couple of years being the QB coach before he would be calling plays for the offense.

Not sure, but it seems to me like he would be a Norv type of play caller.

Why not give it to Romo? Its not like Garrett has that much more experience. He's still in training after 5 and a half seasons, with little improvement.

I got mine after post #36. Its all about how much time you spend in the main forums.

Thanks. I know that, but right now everything seems to be about Dak or Romo and I think that's pretty played out as far as conversation is concerned. Now it's just endless repetition and argument about it.

I'd rather have Romo calling plays with his concentration on that aspect without all the other distractions the head coach deals with. That was an issue for Garrett.

Rather have a healthy Romo under center, but for the sake of discussion about Romo coaching, OC would be great.

I think he'd be better served by being QB coach first, then OC. Garrett skipped a lot of coaching years and our HCing suffered because of it.

Did you read my original post? I think I said just that.

Do you think Romo would be a pass first guy? He doesn't seem like the type who cares much about the running game. It isn't flashy enough.
