I started this thread, and its not whether or not Tony can play at a high level, it was about his ability to remain healthy, this guy has taken a lot of shots, had a lot of surgeries, and is getting up there in age...I see a guy that could be one more hit from being forced to retire. thats all.....this isnt Romo vs Dak in anyway.

Sure, but more is always better reason he hasn't retired yet.

Sure but please lets not act like a LARGE part of him not retiring isnt fueled by his desire to win. Romo has taken alot of crap and hes a heck of a competitor. Hed love nothing more than to get a ring and walk off with an I told you so.

That alone is why he won't retire anytime soon. He loves football.

i usually stick up for Romo but man he looks done and i really really really hope i am wrong. That thing that happened to him today looked like FATE. It sucks but man this dude is a china doll. Players are going to be laying into him now more than before. Defensive coordinators are going to scheme with this in mind. It's not just physical for Tony but mental too.

The decision is Romo's in the near future unless his health makes him ineffective as a starter. Best case scenario is for the team and him to excel and win before his voluntary retirement.

I've watched tons of football over the years and the guys who play the game. Fans' opinions about when players retire are often wrong. I'm not sure why anyone thinks differently in this instance but I've wondered the same thing many times before.

No one is Romo except Romo. Has he said he will retire? It's not rocket science.

I didn't think Romo looked good last season and so far he hasn't shown me anything in the preseason to change my mind. I think all of the injuries have finally caught up to him.

so shots to the back don't count? despite having back surgeries?
Im more worried about what can come from concussions then a back injury. Not saying he or we shouldnt worry about a back injury. But you dont want to mess with that brain

do you honestly or for that matter do many here really think he is going to last all season?
well, that hit looked like they are saying it was - a freak hit that was a stinger. if he was ten years younger maybe he would of simply got back up, but I don't think that represented a health problem in Romo that would be a problem later.

Romo should not retire yet.

He should not retire but he should start to throw it away.

It was bad timing. Romo's playing style, holding the ball and making things happen, creates these injuries. It is a double edged sword. In this situation, some QBs throw it away. Romo, Rodgers, Cutler, Luck all hold onto it. Those guys all land on the injury report frequently because of this.

The worst part about back injuries is the real pain is not going to hit him until he gets out of bed this morning. He'll do nothing next week then he'll take a shot before the Giants game that will reduce the inflammation and he'll have a three-week window, but you don't get to keep taking shots. Thank God we have Dak.

Romo is going to retire at some point. When he does retire, it won't be by choice. He will be forced to. If you guys don't think that he and Candice have discussed this, think again. She probably mentions it every time she sees him lying on the field. I hate to see Tony leave, but there's more important things than football. Tony is not winning a SB without a good D and that's the bottom line.....

It doesn't matter what we think or you think, Romo is going to play because he loves the game and he wants that money in his contract.
Jerry is not going to ask him to retire until he's ready to.
