Should Romo just retire?

what is wrong with this fanbase?

horrible fans.
Not much, they lead the league in jersey sales. BTW it is a legitimate question to ask. Romo is 36 which like it or not isnt young in the NFL and has had his share of injuries the last few years.

Nah. He should have a couple of shots at a ring and Dak should be able to sit back and develop.

romo is going to end this season holding every franchise passing record. if he plays this season and next, he even has a chance of having the most wins in franchise history.

cause that's what is important right? to have all the franchise records?

I'd hate to see it end like this and I'm on the list that doesn't think it's quite time yet, but I don't think anyone's a bad fan for wanting to see him retire. It's cringeworthy to see him take some of these hits and his well being should be the biggest concern. I don't think that's at stake yet, but if he wanted to call it quits early to avoid it getting to that point I'd understand as well.

No way, Jose. Tony was up and ready to go back in within a few minutes. Free does need to at least slow that guy down, though.

It's to the point now that it is imperative that Romo stays in the pocket at all times. He's still going to get hit in the pocket, but getting hit in the pocket is somewhat "safer" than getting hit outside the pocket. The question is, Can Romo be effective being a 100% pocket QB ala Peyton Manning? I don't know.

Please, that was a fluke, have you ever seen a QB starting to slide simultaneously getting tackled from behind and having his spine pile driven into the ground? Total fluke. The fact that his back was able to take that abuse is actually pretty encouraging.

I used to worry he wouldn't make it game to game, now its play to play. I just hope he is not forced to retire and can learn to be a little more cautious with the ball, which i know isn't his game, but he may have to re-invent himself a little.

It was a preseason game. He seemed to be fine after a few minutes and wanted to come back. I'm sure if it wasn't a meaningless preseason game, they would've let him back in. That being said, if he continues to go down for extended periods of time every time he is hit, I don't see him lasting much longer.

Thats the problem right there. He is not able to handle that hit today. In all honesty it wasn't even a huge hit. What happens when he is rocked? He frightens me and there is no way he lasts the entire year.

So what? Then it's dak time. Folks acting like tony playing means we are getting rid of Dak.

We get what's left in Tony's tank and Dak gets to continue learning and developing with the high confidence earned in his preseason coming out.

We literally have the best of both worlds right now and people are pounding the table to put all our money on red. ***

no, but it means he has the credibility to keep going.

when you're paying a guy $20 million/year, you want to be able to show something for it.

and when a guy *shatters* your franchise records and has the trust of the coaches and players, you keep playing him until he shows you that he can't do it anymore.

I love the hype and player that is Dak, but Tony is tangible greatness. Count me with those that are with Tony till he decides he's done. Tony's always had his haters, they'll be coming. Nothing new, right :(

Dak is amazing, but he needs to continue to learn (I'd like to see him take some snaps from behind the center, and continue to work on not throwing off his back foot). He has time to learn with Tony at the helm.

Yep. Hopefully Dak doesn't have to start this year and maybe not next year. He has all the makings of an All Pro QB if we just don't mess it up. Let him learn the game for a few years before being thrown to the wolves.
