Should the Cowboys think about a new deal for LVE?

Schultzkowalski?

But yes, I noticed Schultz had a nice game.

This was only Schultz second playoff game as the starting TE. He's performed very well in both of them.

I don't see this week as a battle of the TE's, or as Kittle vs Schultz. It's SF vs Dallas, and games play out differently. With both teams the TE could play a large role, or the RB's and WR's could diminish the role of the TE's. Both teams have enough other quality players (McCaffrey/Samuel/Aiyuk for SF & Pollard/Lamb/Zeke for Dallas) so that they can win games either way. Of course, both teams also expect their TE's to contribute as blockers.

Obviously on an individual basis Kittle is more likely to have a big day - he's one of the truly elite TE's as when he's healthy. But Schultz is certainly capable, and as a unit our TE's were pretty close to the SF TE's over the season, so I don't know if the SF advantage at TE is great as some might think.

As for Kittle being "on fire", over SF's last 3 games he's only had a total of 89 yards, although he has had 3 TD's, but over the Cowboys last 3 games Schultz has had 184 yards and 4 TD's, so recently Schultz has been the hot player. To be clear, I'm not saying Schultz is better than Kittle, just that if talking about who has been hotter recently that would be Schultz.
Kittle has 7 tds in his last 5 games. That's not on fire?? Lol

He's scoring every game. That's pretty good he's got a much longer scoring streak going

Kittle isn't as relied on getting 10 targets every game like Schultz. He's still just a te lol

But w Schultz as the main Targeted by Dak every week the stats show that he's more likely to hit or miss every other game.

If Schultz is getting 10 targets a game and hes having an off night we're in trouble. Don't ya think??

At this point you can feel his presence missed when he isn't playing. With others on this team our play can be up and down. With all that said, I'd hate to see him go to another team. He's actually a first rounder that's been good for us!

Please give your thoughts...
As others have said, the question is very rarely, "should they consider signing him?" but rather "how much are you willing to pay for him?"

Deebo- Lamb
Ayuk- Hilton
Kittle- Schultz
Cmac-Zeke (Davis)
Mitchell- Pollard

Here's our lineup vs theirs. If Dak turns into little Jalen this week we may have a slim hope. We're gonna need every good rushing play we can get out of Schultzs best buddy Dak imo

Bro....Did LVE run over your dog with his car or something?
MY opinion bro. Did LVE buy you a poodle? I'm watching the victory for the 3rd time studying Diggs in run support and Peters before his injury. Take the time and rewatch the game LVE only. But no disrespect to my fellow Cowboys fans.

Let's see if he can tackle CMac and Deebo first? I hope he's not covering Kittle??

He's pretty good but is he good enough at the playoff level to make the plays?

I think there is a role but as a committee only. 17 game seasons are changing the need for more depth at alot of positions
I agree...

I think you bring back as many players as you can because of all the brotherhood comments we’re hearing and reading in the interviews this year.

Last summer were probably the “you don‘t fit into the culture I’m building” cuts.

Some guys are probably toast because of outrageous bang for the buck contracts (Zeke) or too much cheaper talent behind them. (Schultz)

I think fans have elevated Damone Clark higher than he deserves, and the knock on him in the draft was instincts and diagnosing plays which is either scary or means we may have to wait for his A Game.

Biggest knock on LVE is that elephant in the room injury history that makes anyone nervous to give him too much guaranteed money.

Magic 8 Ball says NO....consider yourself very lucky to have gotten some good games out of him this year....now move on....do not be stupid!!!
They would be crazy to move on. They will bring him back. He is big part of this team.

I’d like him back on a long term deal. He proved he deserves it…

Really going to come down to what price tag his agent is asking for. I would love to have him but price would have to be moderate in price.

I think that's going to be the deal. LVE will command around 4-10 million on the free market..

I think you have to look at how you can keep LVE. Is it necessarily possible? I don't know what to expect from him on the open market. With his injury history will teams go 3-5 years for the guy? Would he be open to less money, but more guaranteed money in a longer-term deal?

The other piece of this we have to consider is who will be the DC next year? LVE fits into what Quinn is doing here perfectly. Bring in a DC who is looking to change the scheme and LVE may not be the best player to spend a ton of money on, especially when you still have Pollard, Steele, Wilson, etc to worry about locking up too.
That's what I like about saving some cap space. It lets you sign and keep players who earned it for the next year.

Shulltz'kowski had a good game Rogers.

It's about time a Dallas Cowboy te make a contribution to scoring at the playoff level. Lol

Schultz already has more playoff tds than #82 lol

There was no Brady to Gronk against Tb.

But this week Schultzkowski goes up against Kittle

And Kittle has been on fire

Who do ya think is gonna win the "Battle of Te's" this week??

We'll get to see them both duel it out in SF

I'm banking that the te that plays their best and scores the most tds this week is gonna win this game.
Rogers? Clearly you're from the old DC.com.

Constantly hating on LVE at this point is like constantly hating on Dak. Re-sign him. Don’t create needless holes in your roster. Then, help him with a legitimate nose tackle.
This is what it boils down to. If you get someone in front of him that will keep bodies off of him..then you can look to extend him. But he is not a LBer you keep around (he's already been here 5 years?) if you are not going to keep him clean and allow him to run to the ball

Easy answer, to LVE, is no, we've only got a best case scenario (Sportrac's) $6m to spend and we've got: Clark, Micah and maybe Cox/Harper.

As for the Schulz part of the thread, you wouldnt want to re-sign at the price it's cost with Hendershot and Ferguson, but it's undeniable that he and Dak have a chemistry and when plays breakdown Dalton's the man he seems to find.

I would certainly look to extend him. This has been his best season since his rookie year. However, I’m still concerned about his neck.
The neck could be a factor into why other teams may lower thier offers. He seems to do well in Quinn's system but not sure how he would do outside of it.
