Should the Cowboys think about a new deal for LVE?

LVE is a good linebacker for the Cowboys but his neck injury history would scare all the other NFL teams. I could see if Quinn gets the Denver job maybe they will over pay him to play for the Broncos. Broaddus said that he does not think LVE would pass a physical with other teams. There is a reason he signed a minimal contract with the Cowboys. I think he will stay on a incentive laden one year contract. Remember he had a strange shoulder injury against Jacksonville. LVE could be on borrowed time.

A month ago I thought a good comp was Josey Jewell in Denver. Had one year where he only played two games due to injury, but when healthy and starting he can rack up the tackles. Underrated LB who isn't elite but when healthy and fits the scheme can be a plus player.
He signed a 2yr-11mil deal off an injury plagued year. So, probably if healthy/had the season he just had probably would of been in the 8-9mil range IMO.

AAV doesn't matter that much. Just depends on how many guarantees there are and how they are structured.

If he continues to ball out and is an integral part of the playoff run, I don't see how you can let him go.

MY opinion bro. Did LVE buy you a poodle? I'm watching the victory for the 3rd time studying Diggs in run support and Peters before his injury. Take the time and rewatch the game LVE only. But no disrespect to my fellow Cowboys fans.
All good my man, we are free to agree to disagree. I just don't understand the hard LVE take as I think the guy has had a heck of a season.

They definitely need to try and resign him. Saying you’ll let him walk and replace him as starting MLB is much easier said than done. There’s never a guarantee you find a guy in FA or the draft ready to handle the job. Talk about setting yourself up for failure! You resign him and look for another guy because when he’s out, the other LBs are not up to the task.

Honestly, I lean "no" unless it is super team friendly. I'm ok with churning the roster & bringing in younger players at your core positions. He's a solid player but not a real difference maker. Not disparaging him or his play, just a high level view of the situation.

Kittle has 7 tds in his last 5 games. That's not on fire?? Lol

He's scoring every game. That's pretty good he's got a much longer scoring streak going
It just depends on how far back you go. You go back 5 games, Kittle is the man. You back 3 and Schultz has been better. Naturally Kittle will end up better over time because he is at the elite level at the position.

After this season, I think you've got to pay him. He's a difference maker, and there is no one on this roster ready to replace him.

I have no idea what his market value will look like, but I could do 3 years/$27M with a front load.

We just look at things differently. For example, when Jaylen Smith was here, he lit up the Stat sheet. He would have 8 sometimes 12 tackles a game. Upon further review, he was frequently late to the hole, didn't go after the runner, instead he would wait and begin to tackle the ball carrier 4 yards past the Los.

The last two years he has played pretty well all things considered. I would make him an offer for sure, but you know the Cowboys.

At this point you can feel his presence missed when he isn't playing. With others on this team our play can be up and down. With all that said, I'd hate to see him go to another team. He's actually a first rounder that's been good for us!

Please give your thoughts....
He’s been a solid run stopper all season

Constantly hating on LVE at this point is like constantly hating on Dak. Re-sign him. Don’t create needless holes in your roster. Then, help him with a legitimate nose tackle.
Another really good LB from the draft would help. Just sayin.

Then next year he's gone. He has not played a full season in several years, or has he ever played a full season without an injury?

Drafting will help but the team seems to be about 50/50 on drafting LB outside the 1st round. So much so they would rather play safeties at the position when LB is 100% necessary. Clark is a rookie but so far he is incomplete grade at best, Cox can't beat Gifford out, Harper has been injured, and Gifford

I guess until we get someone good, we will need to keep LVE. A couple of good LBs would really help the D. Seems like when we are up in one position, we are down in another. Can't seem to keep anyone healthy for a decent period of time. In the mean time the season just keeps getting longer.

I believe he finally got all that Jaylen Smith funk off himself. After years playing next to Smith and watching him implode game after game while at the same time playing down to his teammate's level, LVE is back in the saddle and is diffidently worth re-signing a contract that works for both him and the team.

He'll get tested again by CMac and Deebo this week.

Its all about winning at the playoff level. But I think there is a role for him.

The one dimensional "No run Bucs" weren't much of a test for Lve

Lve needs that Sean Lee special contract, incentives with playing time. He is an excellent player when he is protected up front

He got "Trucked" by a wr not named Evans in the Tampa game.
If he was hit while he was in between steps, or otherwise off balance, then any player would have gotten "Trucked" in that case.

Way to cherry pick one play of hundreds to complain about
