Let’s play a little guessing game before we get started, shall we? Can you guess how many receptions Terrance Williams, the Dallas Cowboys number two wide receiver, had in 2014? Don’t cheat. Whatever you may have guessed, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it was far too high. The correct answer is 37 receptions. How is it possible for the Cowboys number two receiver to only catch 37 passes while playing opposite of Dez Bryant and playing on a team with one of the best offenses in the NFL? What do you do with when he played 920 snaps and only caught that small number of balls? My answer is that the Cowboys probably can’t and won’t do anything about it.

Here are all of Terrance Williams' targets in his career:

Uh...no. At least not specifically. He is a solid #2 but we all know he will not be re-signed when his contract is up.

Actively? I dunno, thought he played well this season. Like Dez, some receivers need some years in the NFL before they bloom.

I'm all for drafting/churning the roster, and if we find someone better, great. I wouldn't care for the team going after a receiver high in the draft unless he was BPA

Sorry that I'm not ready to replace a player that helped us win multiple games last year (Including a playoff game while helping us get back into another) for some bum in FA or an unknown in the draft.

The disrespect both Williams and Murray get around here is ridiculous. Bryant gets a lot of targets, Witten does, Murray did, Beasley did, and Terrance Williams gets his. That's all with us being a run heavy offense.

As much as I like Bryant and he sure did help us win games, there are certain players that just show up in big moments; that is Terrance Williams.

We already need to replace Harris. I doubt we look specifically to replace both of them, but we always seem to bring a lot of WR's into camp. I would imagine they're considering the possibility of replacing him eventually.

He was clutch against Seattle late in the 4th with his tippy-toe catch. In my mind, that was the game that energized this team towards making its playoff run.

Not to mention the game-winner vs Detroit in the playoffs. One thing I really like about him is his ability to improvise and provide a target for Romo when Romo's doing his street-ball thing.

i think people just get bored and start playing madden with the cowboys.

williams has been fine growing into his role. no he doesn't have the catches you'd like, but with this cast and a run heavy offense last year (the same people clamored for now upset at the WR #s) it's to be expected.

if we can upgrade, sure. but i don't see a need to actively jack with the kid.

Which we missed when Robinson left and too many people still take it for granted. We now have both Witten and Williams who are great improvisers.

And when did we start giving up on WRs in their second year? Dez Bryant, a vastly more talented WR, didn't go off until the second half of the 2012 season. Can we at least let Williams develop some more?

I think some folks may be looking at the subject a bit off. I don't think there's anything wrong with competition at the #2 WR position. Even if we got someone better, it's not like Twill wouldn't still be on the team and field.
