Should The Cowboys Try To Replace Terrance Williams?

Haha, what games were this? The games we were dominating in the run and when Romo was completing 70-80% of his passes nearly every other week? Yeah, no one was getting open. I forgot we had other receivers on this team outside of Williams, which over 100 receptions went to.

And I'm sure you had faith in him when he helped us win games in the clutch last year. But hey, we all have to have something to ***** about in the offseason, I guess.

*Yawn*

You're late to the party man, me and Bknight already debated this, and we do it often. I know you feel left out, but we already ended this the other day.

Go pick an argument elsewhere

In 2013 Terrance Williams had the 3rd best season for a rookie receiver in Cowboy history.

In 2014 The Cowboys threw 25.7% less passes than they did in 2013. This was due to the success of the running game. However, Williams only caught 15.9% less passes.

In other words, although Williams caught less passes, he increased his share of the load. To confirm this relationship we need only to look at Witten's numbers, a 13.6% drop in his number of receptions. Dez had a 6.4% drop in his number of receptions. I'm sure nobody is suggesting we replace all three.

Terrance Williams is only guilty of being part of a more diversified offense with more weapons.

Fans should always beware of sports writers that are way too proud of the C- they got in "Statistics for Journalism Majors". Their interpretation of statistics can lead to beliefs that are fundamentally flawed.

For example:

"RB's that carry an excessive load in a season typically decline quickly in subsequent seasons"......blatantly false, a violation of just about every statistical law that exists.

What if the author never said "The Cowboys Should Replace Terrance Williams!"

He needs more consistency but I dont think he needs to be replaced, just yet.

He carried our receiving corp(besides bease) in the playoffs. And his success(playoff) had nothing to do with doubles drawn by wonder boy.

In fact, coverage was to his side on the TD against GB.

So his ONE catch for 38 yards pulled coverage his way during the game? Right....

I can't say I'm disappointed in Williams, I feel he has done a good job as a #2 outside WR. People can throw out all the stats they want but he has come through with some big grabs for this team despite not getting as many opportunities.

The short answer is yes, they should.

I disagree...at least this year. Williams is an adequate starter, which is more than you can say for our current situation at RB and roughly half of our defense. We must use our remaining resources to address those needs.

Or maybe because of his dominating performance the week before while Mr. Super Duper Dez Bryant was missing for the majority of the game?

Just a thought. Maybe they found Williams to be a bigger threat than Dez? Because, last I checked, one WR actually caught a clutch pass while one didn't keep control of his.

Give me a break. You do realize that one good game does not induce fear in defenses over a season of dominance from Dez right?

In fact Dez was occasionally triple teamed during the GB game. LB underneath with the S rolled over the top 90% of the time. They wanted to take Dez away even though he had a mediocre game against Detroit. Tells you how much they feared him over Williams.

I think Green Bay feared both Dez and Williams, and they study film during the week; I'm sure you know this. They saw Williams had big play potential, and I'm sure on plays they thought Williams was the primary receiver, they rolled coverage his way; and they did on his scoring play.

And since we'll be eventually be giving Bryant a ******* Calvin Johnson contract, I expect him to beat double coverage.

Terrence is fine with me, if he works on his hands he'll be a force to reckon with.
