In reality, reception count last year is a terrible way to evaluate anybody. We didn't pass much. He was an effective WR.

@Risen Star is right - we ABSOLUTELY need depth at the WR to play outside the numbers, and if an opportunity comes by to upgrade him do it. By opportunity, though, I mean a great 4-6 round draft pick or a bargain FA. Otherwise, I have other problems to worry about than TWill.

The only thing I'm looking at in this draft regarding WR is a replacement for Harris as a s/t and hoping Green-Beckham falls to us. And you know what, I wouldn't view Green Beckham as a Williams replacement, I'd be viewing him as a Dez Bryant replacement.

It would be something to get another WR with the ceiling of Dez Bryant without having to dish out a Calvin Johnson contract for a while.

Oh hell, let's trade Beast as well while we're at it....

Uh NO....ill take Williams all day and twice on Tuesday

Who said anything about trading anything away. The #2 WR spot is one of competition as it should be. Even if we land someone better, that doesn't mean Twill isn't still on the team.

Let’s play a little guessing game before we get started, shall we? Can you guess how many receptions Terrance Williams, the Dallas Cowboys number two wide receiver, had in 2014? Don’t cheat. Whatever you may have guessed, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it was far too high. The correct answer is 37 receptions. How is it possible for the Cowboys number two receiver to only catch 37 passes while playing opposite of Dez Bryant and playing on a team with one of the best offenses in the NFL? What do you do with when he played 920 snaps and only caught that small number of balls? My answer is that the Cowboys probably can’t and won’t do anything about it.

Here are all of Terrance Williams' targets in his career:

That seems to show that Williams is very efficient. Not many drops and a lot of TDs relative to targets.

He is the 3rd receiving option behind Dez and Witten on a team that was very run heavy. He plays the speed receiver role in that many of his routes are clear outs for the other receivers. It's almost unfair that Beasley gets to come in when the go 3 Wide and get many of the easy targets. Williams would likely be good in that Beasley role is there was another speed guy running clear out routes.

I wonder what % of our plays actually had Williams as the number two read.

Competition is always good, but actively trying to replace is something else.

That means spending money or draft picks to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

The #2 WR isn't going to get a lot of looks for us when we have our running game, Bryant, Witten, and Beasley still around. I don't think it's necessary to upgrade. What makes Williams so good is that he finds ways to get free when plays break down and Romo looks for him in those situations. I think Street could push Williams in camp because he's a better route runner and is a natural hands catcher.

Don't forget Murray as a WR. A lot of our offense had dump offs to him, and people will say that's because he wasn't getting open, but usually a dump off is because the coverage is 6 men deep and the RB has the highest percentage play.

He's going to be a solid player. I would love to have another big body redzone threat as a receiver though.

Actually it could be argued he was the 4th Wide receiver last year behind Bryant, Witten and Murray.

He was joint 3rd in targets with Murray on 64 and joint 4th in catches with Beasley with 37.

And considering the number of rushing attempts we had last year, he has a lot of competition.

We have more important positions to worry about.

Its all about cap management and drafting well enough to have a replacement ready to go as a rookie contract matures.

Don't see him as a replacement for Beasly, couldn't count on absolute separation time after time for sure move the chains. Would've loved to see Street light it up at least once during the year, after watching G.Bay udfa rookie hit big in the playoffs against us, and then Seattle udfa show up big in the S.Bowl.

Replacing TWilliams is not a necessity this year.....he is a good #2 WR for the Cowboys who happens to have a low number of catches because of Witten and with the development of Beasley will continue to be low. Key receptions and TDs are the measuring stick for him and he has had some of those. Sure, he could be upgraded, but there are more important issues to be concerned with such as your #1 RB and Witten's eventual replacement. I'm not sold on Escobar just yet.
I get the feeling Witten will retire when Romo does.

As long as Dez is still the Boys #1, Beasley developing nicely, Witten being Witten and TWill getting big catches at key times, Romo's passing offense should continue at a high level.
