Should we be worried about Tyron?

I don't get all that worked up reading about Ware abusing him but Kyle Wilber (a backup playing end for the first time) is beating him consistently I worry a lot. To be honest I have expected much more from him. He needs to start shutting people out

I'll be concerned if he doesn't pick things up by Week 1. Training camp really just started, and thinking about the sample size of him going against Wilber is nothing to get worried about.

The offensive line has a lot of thing to clean up, and I'll think we'll see them do that over the next couple weeks.

If Tyron doesn't step it up soon it will go down as another blunder not taking Watt as Ryan wanted to do instead of Smith.

He is beginning to show up on my radar as well. I know he is still young and has lots to learn but his progress is slow. He is probably the least of our worries on that line yet he isn't the beast he was projected to be.

I'll wait to get really concerned after the season if he looks the same.

Sorry, I don't put much stock into any of these preseason reports.

Every year, we hear about how certain players are beasting and the regular season arrives and they don't even sniff the field. Likewise, we hear about how terrible players are looking and the regular season comes and they deliver as normal.

#1 rule of prediction is to not base your prediction off of a small sample size with repeated bias.

Seeing that Watt may be the very best defensive player in the league this year, the debate is long over.
However, I still have great hope for Tyron and I'm very thankful we at least drafted a lineman (either side) in that draft?
He is still extremely young, so here's hoping for many Pro Bowls in the future.

As great as Watt is, a LT is far more valuable IMO.

It's too early to worry about Tyrone Smith -- so I'm not worried in the short term.

In the long term, is it is a <possibility> that Smith is just about as good as he ever gets. Happens all the time in the NFL -- even to guys drafted in the top 10. He came out good and he has played pretty good since, however, that doesn't automatically means will become <great>.

Is somebody other than Smith going to play LT?

My point was that just saying, "X s better than Y, so we should have drafted X" is too limited of an analysis. You have to take into account position value, and regardless, it's too early to make a call. For example, if Smith develops into a Top 5 LT, then I think he was a better pick than Watt considering the value of his position.

Here's Archer's comment. Wilber was beating everyone.

**With DeMarcus Ware getting a day of rest, Kyle Wilber was a starting defensive end. He had a couple of sacks and was difficult for any linemen to block. With Ben Bass (ankle) not practicing Cameron Sheffield started on the other side.

OK, so who Wilber abuse? It is not clear. It really shouldnt be Tyron though. Wilber couldnt off special teams last year.
