He is going to be a back up next year. He will cost the amount of at least a 2nd round tender. He can probably get a mid round pick back in trade.

Do you think we should trade him in the off season

I wouldn't be opposed to it.
We may need a OG no matter what. I expect / hope Green replaces Free. Free then becomes the swing tackle. And I am fine with that. Weems is not the answer at T, and time to move on from him.

Berry is a FA and will not be back. So I can see them drafting a OG or signs bag FA. As Leary would only be here a year if he is tendered an offer.
But I also would have no issues in keeping him. But rather get a draft pick if we are going to lose him eventually.

I think he's on a one year deal so not sure trade value

He is on a one year deal, but will be a RFA.
So if we lose him to FA if tendered and offer, we will get a draft pick, or picks.
So a trade would only happen if he signs his tender I believe.

I would LOVE to start him at LG or RG and move whichever out to RT and replace Doug Free.

The more he plays and the bigger deal he gets the better the compensation when he leaves. Leary is a better OG when healthy than what we're getting from Free at tackle. He requires constant help right now.

Plug him back in and move Collins to RT. Makes green the swing backup

Depends on the deal as to whether we should keep him as depth. I bet he wants to cash out before that knee gives though if he can.

I edited my post. I was wrong. He only has 3 years service time so he will require a sizeable tender.

If you can trade him do so, he is not going to be a long term Cowboy either way !!!

At this point I would rather trade him for a mid rounder. Im not a big fan of Collins or Martin at RT, in fact I think may be a better OT then both. You need depth but you can replace him with a vet FA at about the same price and still get some comp out of trading Leary which could help in adding quality youth the the DL, secondary, LB, WR or HB positions

Moving Collins to right tackle would be an absolute disaster. I can't even comprehend anyone thinking that's a good idea. He is perfectly suited to play guard and play it at a high level for a long time. Leave him where he is.

Collins played LT at LSU at a high level for two seasons. How exactly would him playing RT be a disaster?

I dont think Collins would be a disaster at RT. I do think Martin would. With him I just dont think he has the feet to play OT in the NFL. However I do believe Collins is a much better NFL OG then OT

On a team where they run the ball significantly more than they pass it and every scout from Egypt to the Moon agreed he would be better suited inside. He is not an NFL offensive tackle. He doesn't have the leg kick or the lateral quickness. He would get eaten alive.

He might be, he is a road grader that is better at run blocking than pass protection - which says RT to me. I want him at RT mostly to solve that position for many years, I do think he would play well there and his time at LSU is proof. I really don't get saying he would be a "disaster".
