Shouldn't break the bank for Miller

I don't know that I would spend a 4 on any RB in this draft. I, personally, would hate to see us do that. If we can't trade down then I would rather take another RB later. JMO

It would not be my preference but, if Jerry is thinking short term/win now, a premier back like Elliott would give them more fire power on offense, especially if they are unable to fit all the pieces on defense. IMO, there is no one defensive player in this draft (except maybe Spence) who would be considered an impact player/difference maker.

Of course my first and only preference is still a franchise QB.

From what I've seen of miller given his little opportunities in Miami. I'd be willing to give him 5 million per for 4 years. He's 24 years old. Don't know really what I'd do on the guaranteed side though.

Dallas offered Murray 6 per I think, He was a proven fit. Miller will get more than this from other teams in FA. And I don't see Dallas offering Miller more than the Murray offer.

Guys check out the draft prospect Kenneth Dixon.

IMO he has a lot of similarities to Miller.

No thanks. Dinged up small school prospect. I'll take Prosise in the same round. way better prospect with less mileage.

There's already a Lamar Miller thread and this off-base, inconsistant, meandering mess didn't deserve its' own thread.

I'm pretty sure he only makes new threads and replies in them.ha

There's a lot of cap space out there, I think a lot of people are gonna be shocked what some of these FA.s are going to be getting, and offering one of the better ones a 1 year 3 million deal?? I'd be embarrassed for this organization if they actually sent that offer to his agent

Don't worry, they won't. The mere idea of it is preposterous. You may as well just state that you don't want the team to sign him and be done with it.

From what I have heard, Miller is going to be coming to the Cowboys for 5 mil per. Same guy who broke the Mike Wallace and Suh deals is the one saying it. So his insiders obviously know their stuff. Again, this is that time of the year where rumours run rampant. So who really knows. I for one WANT Miller on this team.

We need to spend as much money on defense as possible this off-season. We also need to be able to draft BPA and not worry about having to target a RB in the draft out of need.

That being said, I'm sorry, it's pretty laughable that some believe McFadden is a better RB than Lamar Miller is right now. Come on man.

If you haven't seen them actually play I'll throw some stats out there. McFadden averaged an impressive 3.3 yards a carry in Oakland his last 3 years. Yeah, his OL sucked but Lamar Miller averaged 4.5 behind one of, if not the worst run blocking OL's in the NFL this year. He also has a 4.6 average for his career, and this is with the Dolphins.

McFadden had a good season, but he was definitely proof that basically any RB with some talent and a brain can have a decent season behind this OL. That being said, a more talented player in Miller, although not elite, can have a great season. If the running game is important to your offense, you really need two guys anyway.

And to the "let's just draft a guy in the middle rounds" crowd. Just out of curiousity, what do you do when a player that's far and away BPA falls to your pick that ISN'T a running back? You just pass because you said you'd get a back in round 3 or 4?

Miller isn't signing a one year "prove it " deal.
He will get quite a bit more than the dollar amount you are calling for.

This.

Miller has nothing to prove with any "one year deal".

If he leaves Miami it will be for a multi-year deal.

I don't want another Hardy deal.

They don't work.

Actually..I'd prefer Forte and McFadden splitting snaps.

That would be a very decent backfield and with Forte..

3rd and short would not be a mystery anymore.

I'd love for that to be the case. I'll take proven and experienced at the NFL level without too much wear and tear over a rookie who may or may not do well in the pros.

I'm fine with $5 million a year, especially considering that we were going to pay Murray $6 million a year.

My position is that I will try to fill any needs in have with known quantities in free agency, and then let the draft come to me rather than chasing a need.

I think he is worth that but i'd rather pay defenders like a Hardy, Weddle, Irvin, Jenkins, or whoever.

We need to throw money at that defense.

That's what I think. We need to be big time players in FA for defense. We need de's and dt badly and could use safeties cbs and lbs

Wow!

:omg:

Is there anything else we need on defense that you can think of? Do we have 11 guys?

The mans very underrated. I thought Mcadden did better then my orginal expectations but Miller is an upgrade

He's not worth even close to 7mil per year. Maybe up to 5.5mil for 4 years but, no more.
RB's are a dime a dozen and there are lots of nice ones in this year's draft.
