Prescott needs to be challenging for the starter spot by next season, or he's not the guy. IMO.
He needs to be challenging for the QB2 role next year. Best case for him is to make enough progress he earns the right to be in contention for a starting job in three years when Romo is nearing the end of his deal. We'll need to use a high pick next year at QB next year no matter what.

Not at all. Players develop more than Dak has to at the QB position all the time. His problems are mechanical, and he has to learn to call plays and play under center, but he's got the athleticism and maybe the mental makeup to be a good player if he can develop the rest. It's crazy to bet on him, but having him climbing the ladder if he can do it makes a lot of sense. We just have to be careful to not let him soak up valuable reps if he doesn't deserve them.
