Don't expect any Joe Montana performances from Dak to put us over the top. That's not going to happen. Nor should we expect it to happen.
I don't but which Dak will show up ...........the one against the Bucs or 49ers? For the 49ers game, we didn't even need an elite QB. If he a had simply played an average game, we win. You're right, we don't need him to be Montana but he certainly can't play the biggest game of the season like a bottom 5 QB.

That's not always his choice. The 49ers D rattled him, the Bucs D didn't. The 49ers didn't go 13-4 to get picked apart by Dak Prescott. If that were the case, they'd probably go 8-9.

cousins for Dak.....uhm, whts the point in doing that?
number 2.... I could go back over the last 10 years of NFL drafts and name you probably 15 1st rd QBs that were terrible. So again, what good is that, unless you are getting the top pick and can draft anderw luck or Peyton Manning right out of college???
Rush is perfect where he is at.

Look, I am no Dak huge fan, but he has shown he is quite good, he just needs to have a few big games in the playoffs. I hate to admit it, but we should and will give dak another deal. Hes ours for the next 6 years.
The post I was replying to asked what the Cowboys could do if they let Dak go. Just giving choices/options, didn't approve or recommend any of the three.

Though I certainly agree with your reply about Cousins, that's obvious. As far as no. 2 goes, yep, that's the chance you take, do you get Ryan Leaf or Peyton Manning? Again, just giving options. And no. 3, yeah that's fine until after the 2024 season, then he's a free agent, what if some team is willing to give him more money than Dallas? Then we have no backup, and getting a good backup carries the same risk as getting a good starter - no guarantee he'll be any good.

Again, not saying any are good options, but they are options...

You actually made my point.......there was nothing special about the 49ers on that day. Our D played well enough to win. The differences were Dak and Kellen Moore could not take their game to the next level when Pollard went down. Think about what you are saying.......it's OK to rattle our potential $45-50M QB. In other words, he simply didn't do enough on the biggest stage of the season and if we are being honest, he has admitted as much.

I love the way the writer just automatically assumes the Eagles' first round draft picks will be as good as the players they are replacing without them ever taking the field.

Anyway, I think this article nails it for the Cowboys. It is all about Dak. He has to show he can lead this team to a Super Bowl by doing it. He demonstrates great skills early in the season and during some games but then soils the sheets in a big game creating doubt in the minds of many fans. It is the age old question about riding a horse too long. But, what is missing from this analysis if the damage Dak's current contract will do to the team if they let him go. $36 million in dead money is nothing to laugh about.
But survivable with the 20 million we have in the bank and the cap being raised.
Dak is dog meat (just a feeling) and will follow Zeke to the door.
Like Zeke (and please remember members) he will have a hard time finding a team to pay him anything close to 20+ million a year.

Please by all means give Dak an extension so we can keep this misery train going with that loser.
Yes, a 10-year deal as he has brought MISERY to a new glorious level!
(As viewed below)

Dak QB1 Baby....those falcons and Cards and whatever other dog team we have on the schedule fear him as he is the DOG KILLER!!!

Why couldn't Dak and Kellen Moore take it to the next level? Probably because Dak and Kellen Moore aren't good enough. What did Dak have left when Pollard went down? We had no run game, 1 WR and an overrated TE. QBs need weapons. Dak is no different.

I agree they have to extend but adding 1 additional year would be sufficient. I see them going in that direction if Dak sucks this season. Soonest we’ll see Dak cut is 2025.

On the other hand, if he gets us to a title game in the next two seasons, he’ll get a 5 year extension.
I doubt dak and his agent would go along with a 1 year ext, as he can hold out for another 4 year deal.
Dak has the upper hand in any negotiations, and he is dealing with the jones boys.
They would have to franchise him again, or give him the deal he wants, or take the cap hit for 24 and cut him or try to trade him if dak would agree to it.

The problem is even worse , as the jones boys have made no effort at all to get a potential replacement for dak on the roster.
All they have is rush and Grier.

Which is why the OP may have some legs, as the next two years are going to be the most stocked arsenal Dak's probably going to get.

People still expect Dak to pull a rabbit out of a hat. It's not going to happen. He's Danny White at best. If the Cowboys go into games as underdogs, Dak isn't going to miraculously lead the team to victory with his great play. He's not Dan Marino or John Elway, he's a decent QB. Give him the weapons to work with and the better team, and I think he can win. Just like he did last year against the Bucs, and in 2018 against the Seahawks. The last two years against the 49ers he's playing behind the 8 ball. I find it shocking that fans thought he might up his game to make up for the lack of team talent. He's never going to be the quarterback that does that.

Lmao! What a bunch of whiny crybabies.

Dak isn't going anywhere! He will be extended either this year or next, especially for cap relief purposes. Dak is going to be a Cowboy for years to come. You might as well buy years of Kleenex boxes with all of the whining and crying y'all are going to be doing. Guaranteed.

:lmao:

Dak has better postseason % stats than Marino ever had. This shows Dak has the potential to do better if surrounded with more weapons and a better team like this year or next.

Can't argue with you. I've seen Dak with weapons and what he can do. Just like Tua. I think he's better than Tua, but look what WRs Hill and Waddle can do for a QB. Wow, Tua got better? um, no. The difference is Marino and Elway I considered difference makers. I don't think Dak is that player. But I do hope he surprises me.
