But shouldn't the #1 offense still play better regardless of whatever highly ranked defense they play?

They played well against other high ranked defenses. Philly was to have one of the better defenses, they played them well in both games, one without Dak.
I still say Dallas beats them if not for the 3 picks Rush threw giving them great field position.

I am not knocking Dak but the entire offense should have played better. Pollard getting injured really changed things though.
When it gets tough...no excuses. Do it, but a fan can still appreciate the efforts at those levels.

Yeah, of course first Dallas has to go 2-15 or such and get the no. 1 draft pick.

But Jerry ain't going to let that happen, he'll do whatever he has to do to get enough wins so he can get on tv...
They are trying to win the championship at this point and they have a shot to do so.

For one year, Jerry could commit strong picks over two seasons and place a quality drafted quarterback is the new starting head of the Cowboys.

I'm first waiting on results from the current roster...that's my job as a Cowboys fan.

So we finally have a team that may be a true contender and if Dak cant win it all that ONE season we get rid of him?

Are the Cowboys better than the Niners, Eagles, Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, ect.....ect.....? I cant say they are.

What about Burrows, Hurts, Josh Allen, all these other guys that havent delivered a SB. Should they be cut too?

Excuses will be made for other quarterbacks in the same situation within the same time frame.

Dak played six full seasons. P. Manning, Drew Brees, Matt Stafford, and a host of other good to great quarterbacks didn't win a Superbowl in 6 and 7 seasons. This same crowd NEVER said those quarterbacks should be released after they failed to go to or win a Superbowl in the same time frame.

Other quarterbacks get different excuses in the same situations as Dak. I love the hypocrisy.

With that said, If Dak can't produce this season and the next, deep into the playoffs, we should replace him. I won't put it ALL on him this year because we're changing up the offense, so everyone will be learning new things.

Are they? Or is Jerry loading up the team with a lot of young players, so that Dallas can be a playoff team for the next 4-5-6 years? So he can brag about 12-5 consecutive seasons?

Now I do think Jerry is trying to win SBs (please let's not start THAT debate again), the question is it just one or several? One more SB will just tie Dallas with the Pats and Steelers, Jerry's ego says he wants the record for SBs won before he passes.

Really no way to tell, even if I could, I'm not getting into Jerry's mind and finding out!

I don't agree with the "window closing" aspect.

We consistently retool through the draft, and we are not heavily reliant on past prime players-- it's a result of not going "All-in".

If the author thinks the window is open with Dak, then logically they should see the window as being open for the next 4-5 years if the Jones' want it. Dak's only 30 and probably has 4-5 years left with the same level of play.

That said, we are at a crossroads. My biggest grievance is that we have not acted like it.

Should the running game flourish against the #1 run defense in the NFL?

Its much harder. This is basic football stuff.

No. He would not have.
24/7
:lmao:
He barely beat the Eagles and he had the #2 Oline in football playing off the chain for him. last time he had a substandard Oline in the SB he couldnt even score a TD. 9 points in a beatdown.

With only Zeke at RB and no fast backs to make plays out of the backfield that offense would have been one dimensional. And with an average Oline? With MM and Moore instead of Reid?

Get the hell outta here!!

What about the rest of the team should we replace all of them too?

Im all for replacing Dak. When we have a QB better than Dak. Or at least one on a rookie deal that is comparable.

I'd say more than one and they are doing it with draft and develop and add a key piece here and there. They had the plan in place and stuck to it.

Which I like, the "we won a SB now we'll be awful for the next few years" at least, and more if their drafting is poor.

I value consistency (if it's a good consistency) over the "flash in the pan"....

I agree. This should be a do or die season for Dak. This team is too good to waste it.
and lets say he does similar...ok, and we get pissed and say no new dealfor Dak and let him walk..... then what??????? yea, thats what i thought.

1. There are several NFL qbs that have contracts that expire after this season. Sign one of them. Cousins is on a one-year deal, for example. If he doesn't get the VIkes deep into the playoffs and maybe not to the SB, likely he'll be let go. (Understand, I'm not advocating for the Cowboys to sign him, just noting possibilities).
2. Trade some players under contract and draft picks for a high pick next year and draft a quarterback.
3. Go with Rush. After all, he's better than Dak, right? (Tongue in cheek comment, to clarify).

Pick your poison...
