I don't agree with the "window closing" aspect.

We consistently retool through the draft, and we are not heavily reliant on past prime players-- it's a result of not going "All-in".

If the author thinks the window is open with Dak, then logically they should see the window as being open for the next 4-5 years if the Jones' want it. Dak's only 30 and probably has 4-5 years left with the same level of play.

That said, we are at a crossroads. My biggest grievance is that we have not acted like it.
It's a result of a carefully laid out plan to build a champion and consistently good team through drafting and developing and getting younger as they go.

They are following that philosophy to a fault, IMO.

Yah well if Dak doesnt bring us a SB all by himself this year, I say we just move on and draft another Mahomes next year in the first round.
Regardless of what happens this year, Dak is already a shoo-in for the HOF.

It's all about whether or not Dak can take his game to another level during the post-season.
Dak took his game to a whole new level in the last playoff game.

Crapping himself in front of the entire world was something that not many people can accomplish!

Why are the Ravens, Broncos, and Vikings on this list?

Nothing like that is going to happen. We're not going to see the Cowboys waltz into San Francisco as the underdog and come away with a win like we did in '92. If Dallas wins a divisional round, or gets to the SB, it's because we're going into the game with a much better team. Like we did against Tampa last year. Or against Seattle back in 2018. Don't expect any Joe Montana performances from Dak to put us over the top. That's not going to happen. Nor should we expect it to happen.

It's opening, not closing.
With two 320-pound plus DTs to hold up at the point of attack and control the line of scrimmage, opposing teams can no longer control the clock and the game by running the ball pretty much at will like they’ve done the past several years. Smith’s strength and athleticism for someone his size could be the ingredient Dallas’ defense has been missing.

Would this change for Dallas have affected the two playoff losses to Green Bay and taken the Cowboys to the Championship levels? Dallas might have been able then to have closed the deals...perhaps against the two SF playoff games as well?

Woa, bring 'em on. Our Cowboys aren't second hand rejects!

Only losers sit around claiming that they don’t do something because it isn’t easy.
only fantasy football players are claiming that, just find one. its easy.

doing one doesn't preclude the other. where bach dak over dallas cult members such as yourself get wrong and turn to TMZ type responses is that no one ever said not to draft one, but to use an exception to say what you said is asinine. all you all point to hey, KC did it and they got mahomes. yet, forget the past 30 years of QB drafting. I have never said not to draft one. as a matter of fact I have said many times, we need to do it, invest a top 2 round pick in a QB every few years, if for nothing else a trade or leverage in negotiations. if it fails every few years you do it again. but to say, hey just draft one its easy is level of stupidity I can't fathom. someone needs to explain to me how that stupidity works.

1. There are several NFL qbs that have contracts that expire after this season. Sign one of them. Cousins is on a one-year deal, for example. If he doesn't get the VIkes deep into the playoffs and maybe not to the SB, likely he'll be let go. (Understand, I'm not advocating for the Cowboys to sign him, just noting possibilities).
2. Trade some players under contract and draft picks for a high pick next year and draft a quarterback.
3. Go with Rush. After all, he's better than Dak, right? (Tongue in cheek comment, to clarify).

Pick your poison...
cousins for Dak.....uhm, whts the point in doing that?
number 2.... I could go back over the last 10 years of NFL drafts and name you probably 15 1st rd QBs that were terrible. So again, what good is that, unless you are getting the top pick and can draft anderw luck or Peyton Manning right out of college???
Rush is perfect where he is at.

Look, I am no Dak huge fan, but he has shown he is quite good, he just needs to have a few big games in the playoffs. I hate to admit it, but we should and will give dak another deal. Hes ours for the next 6 years.
