Dead horse.
He's a fine mist by now.
Dead horse.
I agree. Every time I see one of these threads, it is easy to predict what will happen.
It is almost an echo chamber for the chronically insecure.
Do people really need to console themselves with the fact that our QB is "the best"?
Honestly, that is just sad.
Staubach and Aikman were hard to rank as "the best QB" in their day, but you know what? They were the best for this team because they won. A lot.
Luck is easily a better QB than Romo and you have him missing on your list. Luck is also better than Wilson and arguably better than an old Peyton (That was tough for me to even say). If Romo was the starting QB in Indy, I doubt they would even make the playoffs. Here is an accurate top 6. As far as those outside of the top 6... Big Ben, Rivers, and Romo can fight over the 7th, 8th, and 9th, spots. Romo is a top 10 QB but not top 6.
1. Rodgers
2. Brady
3. Luck
4. Peyton
5. Brees
6. Wilson
Wilson isn't pretty and pretty much has to be in that offense, but I think the wins and performances speak for themselves. I think he has some limitations that are concerns. The best way to play him when he's throwing is to keep him in the pocket and play man on the receivers. But the issue is you don't know if he's going to run and in the read option you need to blitz. The problem for defenses is if they blitz, he's scary good when he's scrambling to throw. Plus, he won me $500 in the game against the Skins last year
To me, Luck plays in one of the worst, if not worst, division in football. So he gets a lot of victories and great performances against lousy teams. I just haven't seen him produce well enough and consistently enough against good teams at this point.
I like Brees, but he really lost a step last year.
Romo had a lot of problems in 2013. He struggled to see Dez on deep passes and didn't throw the deep passes well. I thought he was cooked after the SF game. But, after that he really came back nicely and rejuvenated himself...looking more like the Romo of old. More of the guy that can move around in the pocket and step up into the pocket where he's most deadly instead of being a shotgun QB that sits to the far back end of the pocket and dinks and dunks it around. And his accuracy improved greatly from 2013. Remarkable turnaround. And it's hard for me to not base a ranking on last year's performance. In fact, I thought he was playing better than Peyton was by the end of the year. I guess a banged up Romo is better than a hobbled Peyton.YR
It takes supreme perseverance, effort, and a bit of luck for teams to win a championship. Dallas is overdue in that regard. I hope 2015 is the year. If 2015 is indeed a Super Bowl season, it will be interesting reading how perception would change about Romo as the Cowboys' QB. The perceptions may be great. The perceptions may be small. The perceptions may be positive or negative. Or, incredible as it might be, the perception may remain the same as before. Who knows? Regardless, it will be fascinating reading how the after Super Bowl winning Romo compares to the before Super Bowl winning Romo.
