Cry me a river Martin.

Wahhhhh all the other 300 pound millionaires are making fun of me. Wahhhh they made fun of my sister.

Try that in the Dallas locker room back in the day kid - you'd be ducking scissors, your sister would be trickin for Irvin, and your 'reserved intelleectual nature' would've resulted in Jimmy Johnson cutting you almost immediately.

This is foootball, a game of bullies, where homophobic and insensitive slurs are the norm in 99% of locker rooms.

The report was appalling to me, only in the sense that they made a report about something that is common place. Just the NFL doing their due diligence I suppose. I'm more worried about the rapists, murderers, dog killers, and drug dealers instead of bullying - but hey maybe my priorities are messed up.

Yes if this was an office enviroment but it is not, it is the NFL testosterone filled lockers childish pranks and bullying and weak do not survive. Right or wrong that is the way it is. Trying to compare the NFL to how things run in corporate america is a stretch. Call me old fashion but there was bullying when I grew up but many of us were taught how to handle a bully and it worked then it will work today

Not arguing that's how the atmosphere is, I agree with you. But it shouldn't be. You don't have to be an SOB to be a tough dude, and you don't have to be openly racist in the workplace to be considered "mean". Whether you like it or not, the NFL is a business, it's a job, and the players are employees. Plenty of players work their tails off to get to this point, and I doubt a good amount of them that want distractions like this around them when they're trying to support a family and work. And in no way, shape, or form is it okay for a business(worth multiples of hundreds of millions) to allow this to continue. Regardless if it used to be "acceptable" or not. It's allowed to work this way because no one wants to

The way I see it, if they don't want to get along with their fellow employees they can look for another job. Better yet, let the "mean" ones join the military, make 1/20 the salary they currently do, and let them do a few tours to see how mean they really are. It's not hard to be mean when you're 300 pounds and you've never been held accountable for your actions.

Yes you're taught how to handle a bully, when you're an adolescent. These are full-grown adults and their behavior is inexcusable.

That attitude doesn't just resonate in the locker room, it carries over to their personal life and social atmospheres. It's 2014, if you can't come to work and act like a man then there's the door, don't let it hit you in the *** on the way out.

Then we have to agree to disagree. You continue to compare to some office and it is not and it never will be. Is a a physical and brutal game played by over grown kids many who would likely be in jail if not for the fact they have this avenue called pro sports. You will be tested physically and mentally you will either stand up and take it on or you will fold.

Sorry I expect an NFL player to stand up for himself. This is not some little kid getting picked on by another this is a grown man professional football player. I agree with Deion he needs to stand up and take care of it, you don't stand there and take that.

Sorry, I expect people to have an actual understanding of bullying and bully victimization before spouting off.

Sorry bullying did not just start happening it has been going on long before today, we were taught how to deal with a bully and it worked you stand up for yourself you don't stand there like some wuss and just take it. If you can't figure that out then that is your problem. I think many of today’s youth are thin skinned and I think parents over protective has caused this. So save the psych babble

At least we can agree on that.

Didn't necessarily mean to equate it to an "office", as NFL players are, by and large, uneducated and you can't expect miracles out of them. The vast majority don't know any other environment. I just don't think it's too much to ask to not, A) Harass your teammates and create an awkward environment just because they aren't big talkers, B) Harass staff because of their ethnicity. You're not going to change the dynamic of a locker room, I get that, but there should be some boundaries and if you can't follow two simple rules then you don't deserve to make millions of dollars.

Just my opinion.

As Deion said you go after him and what will happen teammates will break it up and you don't come off as some whinny guy. We are talking about a sport that invented hazing a form of bullying those who can take it move on no problem. Martin had a problem and then was unable to play because of it. I don't want a guy on this team who can take it.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible thread!

I would rather have Richie Incognito. He could steal Romo's lunch money and play keep away with Jerry's toupe, maybe toughen everybody up. Give Garrett a swirlie if he calls too many pass plays, make Doug Free eat dirt until he blocks better etc. They would all be scared to death to ever drop a pass or throw a last minute pick, or draft another TE.

Kidding of course.

Yeah - and all the science behind dealing with bullies suggest that macho approach doesn't really work.

But I know from various other discussions that your opinions pretty much ignore science.

No matter which side you are on the Garrett coin...soft or positive..you'd have to think Martin would do well in the current Cowboys environment.

I think Martin would do well in Dallas. I'm not in the locker room of course but Garrett seems to preach an atmosphere of respect for teammates.

Somehow I don't think Roger Goddell is going to see things this way.................the Dolphins are going to be made an example of in the "new NFL".

There is already talk of fines, suspensions, and possible loss of draft picks...................this is an image issue at this point, cant have the average fan thinking the league is a bunch of homophobic bullies. That is not good for business.

Pass, I have a problem with a 300 plus man who gets bullied. My goodness if your not man enough to stand up for yourself then I really have no use for that guy.

You have to be nasty in the trenches. I don't think Martin brings that. I've heard a ton of former NFL players say the meanest guys on the field are lineman. If he can't take a loser like Incognito messing with him, can he really ever be a useful for an O-Line?
