A 30 year old veteran who had 0 sacks in 2014, and only 2.5 sacks over the last 3 years?

Is he really any better than Hayden? Hayden had 38 tackles last season to McDaniel's 31.

Is this the direction the team wants to go?

listen, you might be new here, you dont know how things go, even after a 12-4 season, any player that any team releases, we want that SoB and we want him NOW. Doesnt matter age, how bad he sucks, gap stopper, none of that matters, hes in the silver and blue, so we want him, ok, now you know. continue on.

he was "cut" so dallas could talk to him now if they want.
Chancellor just began his holdout.
Trouble in paradise ! greed sets in , gimme more money!
Seattle may not get any more rings

It is funny how it works, a team wins a SB, then all the players , and mainly the top stars want more $ like flacco in balt, so
they pay them so they can win more SB's but paying them means letting other key players who are not stars go,. and then the
team never wins another SB, some never even get back there.
look at GB they paid arron, and never went back, they are good every year but never good enough to get back to SB.
Same for balt and Flacco
Pitt did get back a 2nd time but lost.
Giants won 2 with eli, but won first won before he got big money.

Bishop, McClain, Whaley,, why does everyone think Hayden is our only option.
Out of this group, I doubt Hayden even makes the team this year.

None of those guys are 1-technique guys.

Sacks are never irrelevant no matter what position they come from.

What I'm saying is that 1-techniques are run stuffers. If they get five sacks in a year, they're all-pro. The 3-technique is the pass rusher.

Understand this won't be cheap. About 20 teams will want him.

And Brandon Mebane was the Seahawks starting 1T and best DT, but he only played 9 games due to injury. Jordan Hill replaces McDaniel at the 3T.

Remember him in Miami. Just thought he was a good depth player.

He's a good player, would help here but I'm not sure if he fits the mold of what Rod wants.

Tony McDaniel is an upgrade over Hayden.

Jason and Jerry need to take a look at him.

Dallas' run defense is not that good. There is only one quality starter (Crawford) at the DT position in my opinion. Green Bay exposed the run defense in the playoffs last season.

Yea, I always felt that going to the super bowl is the beginning of the decline for a lot of teams for the reasons you've mentioned. Also, you can bet that the coordinators and top coaches will get poached by other teams and colleges. That's why the draft and a good front office is so important and why teams like NE have managed to remain relevant for so long.

This is why it won't happen.

They have Hayden who is solid against the run. McClain and Bishop both can play the 1, and they play the run just fine.

If Dallas wants another DT to pass rush besides Crawford, there are a number of DE's who can be a nickle DT. Hardy, Gardner, Russell, etc. All of them are better pass rushers than McDaniel is.

McDaniel can't give them anything that they don't already possess. Dallas won't get in a bidding war for an older player that can't do anything to improve the team.

People wanting Dallas to sign him are just focusing on some 1-tech fixation they have, just because he played for Seattle and has a name they recognize.

We have no need at DT and he is not better than what we have. Marinelli's D does not call for a nose tackle sized 1-Tech. Not to mention we play nickel a large percentage of the time why spend that kind of money for 15 or so snaps a game?

McClain & Bishop are playing 1T.

I included Whaley in the group until I rechecked his bio. He is listed at 275lb, which is pretty light for a 1 tech. For some reason I thought he was heavier.
Wonder if they are looking at Davon Coleman there.

I mean good ones. Hayden beat out those yahoos.

McClain had injuries last season. Bishop was a late round rookie.

Broaddus:
7) If Terrell McClain continues to play with the intensity and quickness that he showed on Saturday, there is no question that he will be a major contributor on this defense. There were snaps where he was in the backfield at the snap of the ball. McClain was not feasting on backup offensive linemen, but working well against the first unit. His cross-face pass rush against Travis Frederick was executed perfectly and to the point where Frederick was left reaching for air.
