Again, I heard Jerry Jones on the radio say that he changed the helmets to a truer silver back in the early 90's...

I doesn't really matter I guess, but I did hear him say that...

I'm sorry but you are wrong.

When Tex went away from the white helmet, he came up with a bluish- silver tint . They even printed the color formula one time in the Dallas Cowboy Weekley.

Today the bluish-silver tint is not near as pronounced as it once was, but the bluish-silver is what made the Cowboys helmet unique.

A true silver helmet is what the Raiders have always had.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I hope everyone realizes that at Extremeskins, there is at least a thread a week about what uniform is worn, what colors they want and the effect of the uniform. I know the old saying is "root for the laundry", but this is ridiculous.

Thank you, Captain America. A lot of the younger posters don't remember the bluish-silver tint, but that's how it once was before they changed it to plain silver. And you're right, the bluish silver helmet is what distinguished the Cowboys.

Regardless of what they might have called it in the media guide the color has been the same since the late 60's.

Not true, but we can agree to disagree.

Hmmm. Troy's helmet sure looks blue in this photo. Anyway, I didn't mean to get you guys all riled up. Just making an observation that the helmets look lighter to me. And I stand by them once having a blue tint - - and it was much more recent than the 60s.

Too many of these young "whipper-snappers" that don't go as far back as us old timers. :D In their defense, today you have to be pretty observant to see the bluish-silver tint in the helmets.

I'm kind of strange about uniforms, I love to dissect them and discuss what I like and dislike.

I even had this strange thought. Why doesn't the fish on the Dolphins helmet have the same Dolphins insignia as the team wears? The fish has an "M" on it's helmet. Wouldn't it make sense to have the same logo as the team? But then again, if the fish had the same logo on it's helmet as the team has on it, the logo would go on for infinity. Does that make sense?! :D

Like I said I'm weird about uniforms.

The scary thing is that it does make sense to me. If the fish has a helmet with a fish on it and that fish also has a helmet with a fish on it, then the fish on the helmet who has a fish on his helmet also has a fish on his helmet and so on and so on and so on... :lmao2:

Per the media guide, the Cowboys team colors are:

Helmet/blue jersey: silver (PMS 8240), blue (PMS 289)
White jersey: royal blue (PMS 661), silver-green (PMS 8280)

That's the problem. Green has never been a part of our color scheme. This ain't Green Bay, Jerry. Go back to these pants:

Once upon a time, they were a tad bluer/darker.

The Cowboys do have silverblue, but I think the Raiders have silverblack., or at least silver/darkgray. Neither are true silver.

The helmets have changed and still have a hint of blue to the silver.

This is why the helmets don't match the aqua green silver pants that have a strange holographic aspect that changes its color with different lighting...one time its greenish, then a bluiesh tint, then straight silver.

Then we have a light straight silver away pants that don't match the bluish tint silver in the helmets.

Uggh. Go back and just wear the mid 70s style and colors that are consistent. That was the look that everybody loved about the Cowboys.

I emailed Mickey Spagnola to send Jerry a message and straighten out the color scheme.

Think he will?

I ended the email with "And no I'm not gay, not that there is anything wrong with that." (... Seinfeld).

Spags is pretty cool about this kinda stuff, so he probably will. I'll keep checking Mick's Mail to see if he responds. Thanks.

Ditto for me. I really don't have a problem with the bluish silver pants, even thoughI prefer the older greyish/silver pants, but just make everything consistent and get rid of the greenish tint in the pants.

And tell Jerry to remember that simple is better. See the Yankees, the Raiders, The Fighting Irish, University of Alabama. All classic uniforms.
