The helmets were a little bluer prior to the 1980s:

But I can't stand the color of our ice bluish-green pants:

They should be this traditional shade of blue:

And yes, the royal blue numbers should be upgraded to navy to match the star and helmet stripes. And bring back the striped socks!

Yeah. This is the classic Cowboys uniform, complete with serif style numbers.

Actually I read years ago, I believe in the late 80's, that when we got new home jersey's in the mid 80's they wanted to get the same style numbers - but the company no longer had the template and they opted for these fatter bolder numbers. But they also ended up being a lighter shade of blue too. It's never been a huge deal, but I always notice it.

I think the pants are the same color. The difference is the lighting and the reflection of the grass.

No way are they the same color. They're definitely less blue.

The pants, I will agree, have changed hue over the years. But this blue helmet thing is scaring me.

The best way to judge the pants is on an outdoors overcast day, like the 1985 playoff loss to the Rams or last year's (painful) loss to the Seahawks.

Face it: they're not nearly as blue anymore. Maybe it's a Reebok thing.

Whooo! Never thought I'd get such a strong reaction, but I'm sticking to my guns. There have been subtle changes through the years, but there is now a more noticeable difference between the helmet and the pants. I guess perception is everything, but let's be civil about it. Peace.

No more aqua-green pants and solid gold helmets with no logo!?!? No more Roman numeral jersey numbers!?! What the hell is going on here?!

The color of the pants have changed several times over the years they have been that ugly aqua marine color, a straight up shinny silver (my favorite), and a simple powder blue and not necessarily in that order. But the helmets have not changed in years and have been silver for a very long time. They did go from a flat silver to a metallic silver of the same approximate shade many years ago in the late 60's or early 70's. Last night they were the same as the past 20 years.

The tint was clearly bluer in the late 1960s.

Thanks for the pic. I knew there was once a blue tint to the helmet and I thought there was still a slight silvery blue color more recently, but it is clearly silver now.

The Cowboys wear two different colored pants.

They wear the aqua-silver pants with their home white jerseys, and the traditional plain silver pants with their blue jerseys. I personally like the plain silver pants and think they would like nicer with the white jerseys, as would the darker blue numbers.

But the fact is the home pants ARE differently colored.
