Maybe Garrett didnt want Romo stealing his shine . . . Jason did clap his way to Coach of the Year . . . up until then Garrett was known as Jerry 's puppet who had Romo change his plays

Isn't all employees the pupper of their employer? Even BB gets to do what he wants as long as Kraft allows it.

I keep hearing a handful of couch coaches call Dak a bum... but none of them can ever answer the question as to why Dak is only one of 5 quarterbacks out of thousands who have put up the numbers he has in his first 5 years?? Only 5 quarterbacks out of thousands in a 100 year NFL history and he's one of them. How can a bum do that??

How can a bum have the winning percentage he has?? Why haven't more bums accomplished these small milestones???

There have been other bum qbs over the 100 year NFL seasons correct? So why is he the only bum to join four other solid quarterbacks in NFL history? Oh wait, he's also ranked in the top 10 of the current NFL starters according to a few publications. Why aren't more bums ranked in the top 10??

Please explain this to me...

Do you have the names of the other 4 on the list? if I start naming the top 5 QBs of my lifetime (obviously my opinion only) they would all have gone to crappy teams in their 1st season. So right off the bat, their numbers are crap.

Peyton Manning... HORRIBLE
Aikman..... HORRIBLE

Dak... he wasnt supposed to start. So he started as a rookie on a team that was loaded. Outstanding line and Run game that allowed him to flourish. BUT, even with all the stats you say he has, he has still done jack squat.

I am curious the names of the other qbs on the list you are referencing.
Comparing Dak with Kurt Warner, a league MVP and with Brady is absolutely FOOLISH.

Warner took a Rams team who hadnt done squat since 1980 to 2 SB and won one.

He then took a disaster of a Franchise the Cards to a SB and almost won it. Dak... let me know when he reaches 3 SBs.

I don't know because I have never been in a situation like that, however, those touting Sanchez as being Daks mentor are actually throwing shade on Romo since they must think Sanchez was a better mentor than Romo. I know Dak need all the help he could get being a newcomer to the NFL...but his fans are touting Sanchez? Coo-coo!

I (nor anyone on here) don't know how much help Romo gave Dak. I can't say Romo was no help because I honestly don't know. They could have had talks in the locker room, over the phone, over a beer at the local bar, they could have even had talks on the sidelines. Who knows. I do know the TV never showed Romo in Dak's ear but that doesn't mean he wasn't. The TV DID (however) show Sanchez and Dak together numerous times... So I can see the perception that people have... If the TV showed Romo and Dak together, maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation...

We can only go by what Dak says. If he says Romo was a great mentor, then Romo was a great mentor...

Is it me?

Or did Dakota P. seem to show the most promise as a player when Romo was in his ear a lot?

Nussmeier has the experience for a job like this. But I think Dakota would just play better if he had a QB coach who had real NFL experience.

I'm certain Romo could do the job better than almost anyone. And as classy as he was, he never seemed to feel threatened by Prescott. He was actually trying to help him win the best he could, even though he wasn't behind center. And Dakota responded well to Romo's advice, I think particularly because he knew Romo was a legit QB trying to help him bring his skill level up NFL speed.

The main thing I see with Dak is, his lack of urgency.

I actually went back to watch Brady's first Super Bowl win last night.

It wasn't pretty.

It was your typical bus driver performance.

In fact, it was pretty awful. Brady is playing better at 44 than he was at 24.. In any case, in that first Super Bowl, you can tell Brady had his head in the game. You can see he wants to win it. And you can see he's focused on trying to give his team the best chance to win.. Not force anything stupid, etc .

Kurt Warner, on the other hand, forced something stupid four separate times, and it cost him twice.

Had he eliminated just one of those, the Rams win.

In any case, I'm fine with the coaching staff from a football standpoint. But they are lacking a bit in other areas like psychology, and anthropology (Belichick is a great anthropologist), and they need a QB coach who brings the best out of Dakota P. and coaches him up enough to take the risks needed to win without throwing the game being stupid ala Kurt Warner.

Using Brady as an extreme metric or comparison for Dakota P at least allows us to see how even the best quarterbacks in the game are really just bus driving bums after all.

So, it's a mindset that our team doesn't have.

You can see the mindset and cohesiveness the Patriots have as a team in that game and that kind of has little to do with the players and very much the coaches.

They surely didn't win that game from what Brady did.

It was more about what Brady didn't do.

So if we're keeping king bum beater, at least bring him a decent QB coach because chances are we'll have to face some elite QBs along the way.

And maybe our defense can bail out Dakota like the defense bailed out Brady in his first Super Bowl win, and prove all the haters wrong.

I think there's a small chance that can happen, even with the average QB play we're currently getting from Dakota, but he has to have the right coaches around him.
I dont think dak wants a new or special qb coach, and if they hired a new one, I doubt dak would listen to him.
Dak thinks he is smart, and is coaching himself, he does go to a qb camp, and has his own field lol so I dont think he would listen to anyone they hired.

Dak had the best quarterbacks coach in his rookie season, Romo. Exactly why his numbers were through the roof & many awards.
When does KMoore be held accountable? Oops, my bad, that's the HC in waiting.
:hammer:
Moore's a huge problem. He's been exposed over & over last season. MM should have starting calling the plays when things started going south. But instead, he again hired a new coach to help Moore. Go figure.

Agree on all points. The truly amazing thing is people making up lies to make a player (former) look bad. Then vcontinue to adamantly defend it. Without one shred of evidence. While demanding other people look for it.
That is the real poison. They are exposed.

Yep Steve Im not a Romo fan or a Sanchez fan but I think both guys tried to help Dak and be good teammates handling things in a very professional way .

That said Im all for the best coaching money can buy . If Jerry feels threatened by good coaches with dominant aggressive personalities how about at least make an attempt in FA to fix the Oline and give Dak a fighting chance back there .

I would settle for almost anything positive at this point that makes the team better

You live in Kentucky, right?

So, it's quite possible some of these games were blacked out for fans who don't live locally.

I'm beginning to see that that's the issue here.

You may also be watching different coverage on the game. For instance, this year I remember watching the game on Nickolodian, with some dumb fat kid commentating about slime.. so you probably weren't getting the same coverage the rest of us who know the truth about the issue were getting.

It was Romo coaching up Dak very early on, when he was injured.. Because Romo obviously thought he was coming back in later.. Romo was doing it for the team. Everyone knew he was hurt, etc.

Just google, and you can see how wrong you are..

But since I know you guys who keep saying this stupid lie the rest of us saw with our own eyes, I'll go show you... It happened.

You can deny it happened all you want, but that doesn't make it not so.

Sorry Mac but I think he's another one of Jerrys experimental pet Cat coaches he is hoping to hit on and make him look like a football guy . This unfortunately has to run its course and become embarrassing for a while before we get to move on

That 2016 roster had SUPERBOWL bound written all over it!!!!
Took our offense till the 4th Q to start scoring vs the Packers another continuous Dak-Friendly trait that pretty much ended the dream.
13 pts in 3 Quarters of football at home ain't cutting it, Mr.Prescott!!!
7 pts in 3 Quarters vs the Niners at home....seems you're getting worse Mr.Prescott!!!!

I took a screen shot of about 10 different photos showing Romo and Dak together. But for some reason I can't get the photo link to work correctly. Any input on that would be appreciated.

Or just google Romo and Dak together.. and you can see they were often together.. hanging out as friends and stuff.

You guys are so funny, though, in your own little worlds and pretend realities.

It's really cute.

Indeed. I believe both guys DID help Dak...in different ways. People made up stuff in their head based on TV coverage. Crazy.

And yes we are looking for positives. I don't care what people say about whatever entity gave our Oline a high rating. Clearly some issues there. I think if we concentrate on that, Dak and Zeke will take care of business like 2016.

(rather than us bickering about who coached Dak...lol?)

I never once said Romo didn't mentor Dak. He may have. I'm sure there are numerous photos of Dak and Romo hanging out. I've never said they didn't hang out.. Let's just agree both Sanchez and Romo mentored Dak his rookie year. As mentioned, I did see numerous times (on TV as I've never been to AT&T Stadium) where Dak and Sanchez were hanging out together on the sidelines. Again as I said, I'm not saying Romo and Dak didn't hang out on the sidelines. They may have... I'll reiterate. My comment was the TV didn't show Romo and Dak hanging out on the sidelines during games. Nothing more/Nothing less...I don't remermber if it was Fox or CBS that kept showing it. I do remember it was one station that every time you turned around, they were showing Sanchez and Dak hanging out together. Maybe it was an agenda... Who knows...

Dak made progress training with Kitna. Dak just makes progress with coaching. He trains in the offseason every year. He's serious about his craft. His commitment to improvement, and *demonstrated* ability to improve, is the best thing about him as QB long term.

As for Romo, per Brice Butler Romo was *at one point* the guy making the weekly offensive game plan. Whether that continued in 2016, I can't say for sure, but good chance it would have, IMO. Once injured, Romo would have had more time on his hands, and there was every expectation that Romo would return as the starter sometime that season.

Demoting Romo from making the game plan while injured would have been a huge slap in the face for an injured starter presumed to return to the starting role. If anything, I would have expected them to *increase* his coaching responsibilities when he was injured.
