Wow, Orakpoo made it as a rookie OLB.

If a Rookie LB was going to make it into the Probowl, I would have figured it would be Clay Matthews (Green Bay) -- one less sack (10 vs Orakpoo's 11) but he's an all around LB and looked pretty amazing whenever I saw him play vs Orakpoo who looks to me to be primarily an pass rusher only.

I may hate the skins, but I am quite pleased to see Orakpo making the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Witten has 954 yards, probably just a typo.

How any TE can have 88 receptions and only 1 TD is beyond me. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

look no further than our OC.....Witten should have no less than 5 TDs at this point.

why would you care - he is an enemy of Cowboys nation until he is elsewhere in my books.

They need to draw up some plays to try and free him from double teams. With his size, height and ability to catch the ball in tight quarters he should score 6-10 TDs a year.

Given how teams overplay the Barber dive from inside the 2, you'd think we could sneak Witten open in the endzone on a playaction pass. Or if not him then Phillips or Bennett.

I think this is one of those situations where the Cowboys used to give Emmitt the ball inside the 5. So Garrett naturally thinks he can just do the same thing with Barber. The only problem is Barber is not Emmitt Smith and this isn't a great drive blocking line.

He should get more than Roy but the best thing may be to give him a 1-year tender and then extend him during the season (I can't remember if there are rules that would prevent this. I thought you couldn't do it twice in 12 months for an extension of a previous contract but not sure about a new one). That would rule out the worry about him being a 1-year fluke and decrease worries about his long-term durability.

...this year for Witten is the lack of pass protection. He's had to stay in to keep Romo standing upright in the early part of our season.

What's happen now is our line has recovered from some of the early season nicks and bruises, Choice is figuring out how to properly pick up the blitzer and Romo is on a roll with his rhythm and feel for the game.

It's now crunch time and I expect that Witten will still be Tony's favourite target. He going to get some balls coming his way.

Someone explain that to me please.
The Jason Peters nod got my attention. I realize that there is a shortage of good left tackle performances this year but this was a huge laugher.

I think Mike Jenkins got screwed. Just my opinion!

Jenkins has been near excellent this year, but who do you take off the Pro Bowl roster? Certainly not Samuel or Woodson. I haven't watched an Arizona game all season and haven't heard much about the performance of their defense so I cant speak on DRC. But I guess if you were making a case for Jenkins, the argument would be b/t DRC and Jenkins.

Agreed on Matthews. Orakpo has been pretty good, but Matthews has done it all in coverage and rushing. He has simply made more plays. Huge oversight.

Number 3 scoring defense in the league.

Number 1 scoring defense in the NFC.

2 players from this defense in the pro bowl.

Must be a team concept.

It really is not a slap in the face as it paints an accurate picture of what our defense is all about. Good defenses are often like this. Besides, how many of our defenders have made outstanding plays? It is difficult to make a Pro Bowl and get noticed when you don't make plays. Simply doing your job and playing your role is not going to get someone noticed. We are playing smart and sound defense, but it is not the '85 Bears or 70's Steelers.

Aside from Jenkins and possibly Brooking, who else deserved it? That's right, nobody.

In 1992 when we finished 13-3 and won the first super bowl with Jimmy, we had the #1 defense in football and had NOBODY selected to the probowl on defense.

Peters was a bad pick, but McKinnie making it was even worse. He's been so bad that he's been benched in a couple of games.

Other than a couple of examples, I thought the NFC team was pretty reasonable. The AFC was a joke though. WAY too many guys made it on reputation.
