I live in iowa. Watched this kid play his entire time at ISU. He is very streaky and will crumble under pressure. He also has a hard time reading the middle of the field. Linebackers who can cover give him fits. He was benched three different times at ISU for interceptions and leadership issues. He can be had. Niners would be wiser to play jimmy g in my opinion. He is healthy enough by all reports. However the niners have a lot of weapons and stout lines so he is able to get by just enough to beat the scrubs the niners have played. Let’s not forget the seahacks were picked last in the entire nfc but overachieved. so even those wins don’t rate high. I do think the niners are a solid favorite but Purdy is the weak link. We just need to get to him and expose him.

As an ISU alumni...I agree. The games I saw him play, he would give up interceptions in the red zone one too many times. I am beyond shocked he is doing this well.

Well with all due respect how a guy plays in college has no bearing on how he will play in the NFL. He seems to be handling pressure fine but of course that's our only shot at the 49ers offense. Gotta get to him and make him uncomfortable.

Our defense in the redzone seems to be solid. I'd much rather that then guys breaking off for 60 yard touchdowns.

My buddy is from Cresco, Iowa and is a huge Hawkeyes (and coincidentally Niners) fan and told me the exact same thing.

People that watch and are familiar with Purdy all seem to share the same concern that he will eventually play like a seventh round rookie.

Maybe a testament to how good San Fran is...

Purdy out here ballin' because the teams is so good.

I worry about this kids legs...he seems fast...like real fast. That always gives NFL defenses trouble when a QB can take off

Man I bet the 7 or so DC that he has beat heading into this game wish they had this insight about him. They could have totally ran a different D, if they had only known.

He is the biggest X factor in this game and come decide the outcome. Cowboys have an interesting task, do you come after him and leave their yac monsters in space or do they zone it up and force Purdy to make throws in tight windows.

Odds are the collapse will occur sometime this playoffs. Whether that is this week, in the NFC Championship, or the Superbowl is yet to be seen.

Let's hope the wheels come off against Dallas. This team is overdue for some playoff luck.

SF has played by all accounts one of the NFL's softest schedules. They are a great team, but the greatness may be a little inflated due to their competition. Dallas has the talent to really make them play all 4 quarters.

Well hopefully he already knows this. This where I was hoping jabril cox would be able to make a difference. He was a great in coverage at LSU but apparently he had not progressed and will be a healthy scratch again I assume.

Yeah, I think we see Clark this week, because of his speed.

In fairness as Iowa State he was not surrounded by much talent, they do not get recruits of the caliber of Alabama heck they do not get top recruits like Texas and OU he came in and helped make that team much better. Purdy is a tough competitor and is playing on a team like SF that has very good talent and built on the run game. Can he get rattled? most QB will if you are putting the heat on them but in SF before you can bring the heat you got to deal with their running game because they will run a lot

Purdy is doing well in large part because of Kyle Shanahan’s offensive design. The offense is not necessarily completely hinged on the quality of QB play. The niners have already been to a SB with Jimmy G so Shanahan has proven he can win with average QB talent.
