Well, that's just stupid...

We have a bigger problem with gloom and doomers (like you) than we do with Pollyannas in here...

The only thing you got right is that you underachieve... your posts have little value to them, except perhaps to allow you to disgorge the bile that must build up in your day to day, miserable life...

If you step up your game, maybe folks will stop rolling their eyes at your every post...
:lmao: yeah maybe I better start posting better to achieve my goals in life.... read the part I bolded again so you can see just how stupid that sounds.

I'm going through the same thing here in Alexandria, VA. Suddenly, the skins fans are foaming at the mouth. A bartender in my watering hole (whom I will be going to Game 1 with) was beside himself, proclaiming to me, "Just wait! YOU'LL see! WE are going to win the Super Bowl in YOUR house!"

Where do you go? I had a terrible night out in DC and need some more adult places to hang out. I think I've outgrown the club scene.

Normally at Hop's in Alexandria, right on Route 1. Mostly because it's just across the street from where I live :)

I would hate living in that area of the country where you'd have to deal with the insanity of the delusional Commander fans.

At least the few who come here are realistic and don't go overboard with a preseason showing.

Yeah, running an end-around on like the second play of the game is real "vanilla"... :D

Thats a fairly vanilla routine play in the Shanahan offense designed to check the back side pursuit.

With as many bootlegs, waggles, etc that Shanny runs, I'd expect to see the Commanders run that type of play 2-3 times a game early just to keep that backside pursuit at home

I will say this...

The Skins have heavily upgraded the QB position. McNabb, as much as I hate him, is a far cry better than Campbell and the rest of the idiots they have had back there over the last several years.

Under Shanny, they will improve their running game. His teams traditionally have great running games, even with scrub running backs. The OL will be doing a lot of underhanded and cheapshot blocking, so be prepared to see a lot of complaining by their opponents. I firmly believe that the blocking style of the OL is the reason the running game is so successful. Defensive players are thinking about getting a knee taken out more than making a tackle, thus they attack with less effort and the lanes open up more. I still cannot believe the league never took action against Shanny and his OL blocking scheme.

Their offense should be improved over last season.

I know I shouldn't post in this thread but I couldn't help it. I don't think anybody reasonable is predicting super bowl. While the preseason doesn't count, there are a lot of hopeful signs I think the Skins faithful were looking for and found. It wasn't perfect, but it looked good.

It is better to look good, winning your match-ups and doing the fundamentals right than it is to look bad and lose your match-ups (2006). We need to shore up the edges on the running game and against a team like the Cowboys, we have to be sharper defending the run than we were, but if the roles were reversed (Cowboys played very well and the Skins didn't), you know you'd be hearing about how the Cowboys would stomp the Skins and this past week would be exhibit A.

I think a lot of us thought immediately back to Spurrier but I think that's a poor parallel to draw (grasping at straws). Spurrier brought a college offense to the NFL and it didn't work. We didn't know at the time it wouldn't work, so a lot of people were excited. However, Shanahans' offense we already know works at the NFL level.

that's why I'm glad I moved to Chicago two weeks ago. The delusional base kills you. Though I did like the DC area.

Please, tell us what they found and can count on in one MEANINGLESS PRESEASON GAME. I'm dying to hear this....

You know the night of the Skins first preseason game I was listening to a postgame show and the host of the show described the game as a "blow-out". Anyone who uses the words Blow-out in describing a preseason game is pathetic. Which I think aptly describes the Commanders and their fans...:lmao2:

In my opinion, Shanahan will be one of the few head coaches who shall hate seeing the league move the umpire from standing with the linebackers and moving him behind the offensive backfield. The refs actually hate the move also and it will impair their vision while determining whether some catches have been made downfield; but now the umpire (whose primary responsibility is calling linemen penalties) will be in prime position for witnessing illegal blocking by offensive linemen without the defensive linemen blocking his view.

It will not prevent illegal blocking, but the move should help reduce the number of non-calls. I'm very VERY interested in seeing just how often Commanders linemen are called for illegal blocks and whether it will erase some positive rushing gains by their running backs.

I have no doubt that Shanahan's OL get away with a lot of cheap shots, but the real problem is, the cutting and knee-targeting they do isn'tt illegal.

The score is meaningless, you are right. What we saw was a team who continually beat the guys across from them. I get that certian pass routes may not be there or the running lanes or whatever but (for example) seeing Trent Williams take his guy out of the play, every play, is a good thing. If you watched the game, you had to have come away with the impression that the Skins looked good and played with good fundamentals and effort. It's sure as hell a lot better than playing like crap and getting beat all over the place.

Ahh, I never mentioned anything about the score. I watched a Bills team with 3 of their 5 starting olinemen missing move the ball rather well against your starting D. Most of your scoring came from your 2nd 3rd and 4th team guys, who probably won't be on the team. I did watch the game and I thought your bench guys did well but your starters didn't impress me all that much and thats ok, it's only preseason..

If Shanahan's zone blocking scheme stays true to form, he is going to utilize a good percentage of run sweeps. In my opinion, while Shanahan was in Denver especially, his offensive linemen would not sometimes reach their particular zone blocking assignments, finds themselves trailing a pursuing defensive lineman chasing the runner, and took out defensive linemen from behind and below the waist.

That, by definition, is clipping. That is illegal. I only hope that more of those non-calls do not fall in his favor in Washington.

They got a FG in two drives and threw an INT that was returned to the 10 yard line. I wouldn't say that's moving the ball rather well. The rush defense was a bit concerning and we saw some guys overpursue but that just might be getting too amped up. The starting offense looked good IMO too. We had two drives and one ended up in a TD.

Oh, I know, and I really hope you're right. My gripe is all the chopping behind the knees that they do between the tackles. You can't hit a QB below the knees, but you can design a whole offensive system around doing it to offensive linemen.
