I was perusing ES to see what skins fans thought of JC's and Romo's performance yesterday. It's good to see skins fans are finally facing reality. JC at best is a marginal QB and Romo is the real deal :D

Here are some qutes from ES:

This is what is frustrating to me. I can deal with growing pains. Truthfully, I will overlook the worst games ever. But to do that, I need some bright spots. At this point, what is JC's signature game? He hasn't had a great game yet. He has been excuse-laden average to poor in his games. And you can't tell me that every one of those games was against dominant defenses. They weren't. He has great protection, great running games, and very talented recieving squad. So where is the signature game?

I guess his signature game was the 220 yards, 2 TDs and 1 Int vs. NYG last season. That is not a signature game.

Look at Romo. He has started only 3 more games than JC, and he has been offensive player of the week 3 times.

In 8 games, JC's best game is 220 2/1. In 11 games, look at Romo has put up better than that:

345 4/1
321 2/1
308 2/0
306 5/0
284 2/0
278 2/1
270 1/1

I'm willing to give JC a long rope, but he has to give me something! Give me one single game like any of those games Romo has put up in almost as many starts. Give me something to hang my hat on!

I have yet to see him put up anything close to a great performance. Give me just one JC, and I can deal with 7-8 games like you just put up! But I need 1 great one from you!

Look at Leinart last year. He looked a lot like JC in most of his games. But he put up one good game that gives AZ fans something to hang their hat on. In Minnesota, against an excellent defense, Leinart put up 405 yards. That allows their fans to say "well, if he can do THAT more, he will be a solid starter."

We don't have a single game to say "we know he can do THAT, we just need him to do it more often."

Cyber Pimp said:
You have guys like Leinart and Cuttler putting up better numbers then JC. I'm tired of people making these excuses for him. I hope he improves but right now he looking really suspect.

Cyber Pimp said:
224 yards and 2 ints. 54 of his 220 yards came off a fluke play. If you take that 54 yard play away you get 170 yard and 2 ints (my edit: that is a 37.7 rating). These arent good numbers. Let me find out you have a wet spot in your panties after that mediocore performance.

thats a real NFL offense. They are moving the ball at will...people are open. They are creative.

There is no way we should have the running game that we have and only score 1 TD. Something is seriously wrong.

Hopefully Campbell can improve. It would be nice to actually have a leader on this team..

Excuses excuses. Romo and the weaker Manning look MILES ahead of Campbell. You can shout defense all you want but no one on the Dolphins made Campbell miss wide open players. The two QB's playing at the moment are more accurate and make faster decisions - without the slow wind up delivery.

That's real - sorry homers.

SnyderMustGo said:
I agree. I don't how anyone can be confident in JC after today or want to argue he is as good as those two.

Romo and Manning are light years ahead of JC. Romo particularly looks awesome. I can't imagine what our O would look like with him. 15 for 24 and 345 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 Int for a (2nd Edit to fix rating) 128.472 qb rating. (EDIT: He ran for one too) That is just plain sick no matter what defense you are playing.

Ji said:
totally agree....we have the worst QB in the NFC east for sure and its an upgrade to what we had last year.

Romo and Manning looked incredible tonight.

taylorcoreskin said:
Watch them put up 30 points on them (Miami). I sort of hope they do (so long as miami puts up 31 points) so I can stop hearing these lame excuses for our team.

AmeriplanDentalMan said:
You are a homer and not knowledgeable in football. The Cowboys are for real and you will find that out in a few weeks. I am a Skins fans, but the Cowboys have a QB and we do not. Jason is not a 60 percent passer. This team of ours will never be able to move the ball with consistency until we find a sixty percent QB. and our defense is still not dominant. We could use a shutdown corners and a tackle that can pressure the QB and destroy that pocket.

the homers can cry all they want:

romo looked ridiculous

dallas knows how to move the football

their pass rush is incredible

their secondary sucks

LaxBuddy21 said:
Lets start with the positives...WE WON!!! If JC can clean up the mistakes, we easily score two more touchdowns.

Now, regardless of how bad the Giants defense is, Romo looked good. We cannot put any pressure on a QB now, how are we going to put any on a QB with that quick of a release? His passes are 3 steps and gone right on the money. The only way we can combat that is if we shut down their recievers so he doesn't have a target. With the cushin Rogers gives, I see Romo eating that up all day.

He had a helluva game -- no doubt about it. The NYG secondary is suspect to say the least, but 9 had to make the throws and he was spot-on all night. Tough to watch bc I hate Dallas with every fiber of my being.....but that was the most impressive performance I saw from today's games.

cosmopolitianbloodloss said:
I can't even hate on him tonight. He did very well. I looked at those stats like, "damn". Hopefully he won't stay this good ;)

Romo had a very good game and was just as good as his numbers if not better. He made a couple of very nice throws under pressure. I know it's not popular around here but I think Romo is going to be very good for years to come.

If the pass rush was that good, the secondary would not have looked like that. But it is good to see the fear in their hearts.

It is possible to get good passrush, but have the QB beat it with quick, accurate passes.

Sure it is, I just didn't view our pass rush as being as 'Incredible' as the skins fan did.

Compared to their "pass rush" the last few years...our pass rush does look "amazing"

We look amazing in all aspects compared to that garbage team.

Quit wasting your time on ES and focus on sites for teams that are actual rivals to us.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy that Snyder pays millions to win 5 games each year. Its just a waste of our time to worry about them

It's nice to have a QB that others actually consider good. It's been a while.

On the other note, I think a lot of their fans are really jumping the gun on JC. I think he's going to be fine. He occasionally has a throw that makes you think "Wow. He might be something." Of course, QC had that as well, but I just see more talent with JC. He may not turn out, but it is definitely way too early to start making those sorts of judgement calls.

I like to go over to ES every now and then for purely entertainment value. The fans at that site really crack me up with their "Skins/Gibbs can do no wrong" mentality Their FO could give up 3 #1 picks for Pete Hunter and their fanbase would find away to applaude it as a brilliant move. :laugh2:

Whenever Dallas has an awesome game with Romo, I love to peep at ES just to see if they have a reaction to it (I only read over there BTW) and they are so obsessed with us and Romo, they have to make an entire thread about us and it's usually funny as hel*.

Romo sat and watch for 3 years, so I would think he would be ahead of Campbell, plus Campbell really didn't play in a passing offense at Auburn.

QC's not a ridiculous comparison (on the field, anyway) right now. He makes a beautiful throw down the field, but is all over the place with the shorter dink and dunk stuff Saunders likes to run. It's what I remember about our drive-killing quarterbacking from that era—no touch on the short stuff.

Campbell won't have the crackhead problems, probably, but it remains to be seen whether he can really put it all together, or if their "genius" offensive minds will actually stoop to adjust what they're doing to take advantage of what he does well.

Here is their answer...when Campbell was a 3rd year sophomore at Auburn the fans at Auburn were screaming for him to play because their starting QB was dreadful. Tommy Tubberville responded by saying, "If we play him we would have to run a high school offense". That is a quote which made the papers and created a huge uproar in the State of Alabama.

Campbell struggled for a long time before finally having a great Sr. year when Auburn brought in a new OC who ran a very simple offense built around Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown and play action passing.

I thought he would struggle with the complexities of an NFL offense and NFL defenses due to those issues as well as his accuracy.

On the positive side for him, he is a high character guy. Much different than Q.

Campbell has a rocket arm but it takes him half an hour to wind it up. Leftwich has the same problem. The other thing I don't get is the Washington coaching staff talking about how smart Campbell is. Pre-draft, all I heard was how the Auburn coaches had to scale the playbook back for him. I'm not claiming either, but, which is it? Can't be both.

Occasionally I love reading the clueless knee jerks at ES.

I never read the actual quote, but I do remember a lot of fans who follow LSU talking about it at the time.

"SnyderMustGo" from ES is the realest poster over there.
Then he needs to change his username to something realistic sounding because Snyder's the owner and he ain't going nowhere.
