You're assuming JJ/JG really wanted him back. Something tells me they didn't care.

I don't think that it's a smart thing to let a terrific football coach walk out the door if money is the only obstacle.

There's no salary cap on a coaching staff. Of course, this is presuming that Callahan actually wanted to stay (which I don't believe that he did).

A lateral move to a bad team that's 12 months away from firing its head coach.

Callahan wanted outta here bad.

True but then he is going to Washington as a OC and while he had the title this past season I think he wanted to be in a situation where he could be calling the offense. I thank him for being the professional that he is and not allowing an ego to prevent him from doing a great job coaching the OL

Not really a lateral move, he was OC only in name, Linehan was the OC even if the title says different.

He's not the offensive coordinator in DC - he's just the OL coach.

I agree that he was a great position coach. Personally, I would loved for him to return. There's a part of me that thinks he and some of the other coaches didn't see eye to eye on some things and that's why he's in Washington. That, and I understand that Washington compensated him really well.

It's not a big deal, it really isn't. He didn't want to be here and for whatever reason. The offseason not the offseason unless the deadskins signs a former cowboy. The thing I like about Garrett is he seems to always have a plan, I would be willing to bet they anticipated him leaving. Hence the quick promotion of Pollack.

lol... The architect of this OL and run blocking schemes is considered a cast-off by us fans...

I guess Garrett didn't bring Houck, his power blocking schemes and his desire for fat, big hefty lineman here..

I for one would not be sad if Callahan left. He had 3 Pro Bowlers on the OL and they struggled with blitz pickup and I have yet to see him really develop anyone. Ready for some new blood

Which he picked. Callahan isn't the one that calls the long developing pass plays that have no hot reads...

That's been a problem even before Callahan...

Callahan is one of the great OL coaches and definitely not washed up like Houck, the guy Garrett brought here.

He had the ties to Wisconsin that landed Frederik, when the personnel department was looking at Floyd.

People forget, our OL was just as trashy before Callahan got here.

The Shanahan connected guys got blown out last year

But Haslett/Morris/Forester/McVay stayed on, i.e the Bruce Allen connection

Callahan worked with Allen in Oakland, so even when Gruden gets blown out he'll stay on board. Snyder hasn't been very keen on blowing money by firing coaches lately, which is why there are still a bunch of Shanny leftovers still on the staff

Be happy you got him. I'm mad we lost him. I was expecting it though.

Callahan was a big part of the Oline success. However, we did have the talent to go along with it. Hope Pollack is able to continue and surpass the work Callahan did. Really hope this comes out in our favor.

I think I'd be more afraid that he knows whatever weaknesses the Dallas o-line might have and help the Commanders defense exploit it...

I
I had felt he would not be back from the start of this season. Hate to see him go but at least Dallas has been able to get DC and OC taken care of and Callahan OL assistant coach Pollack will take over for the OL. Guys on the team have been working under him so they will be very familiar with him and what is expected
I was fine with him leaving but I didn't want him going to the skins...

Nothing he can say that the tapes do not show. I think too much is made of coaches or players from former teams being able to give much input.
