Commanders are hard at work defending their title as offseason champions for the umpteenth straight year.

As long as he's not taking Smith-Frederick-Martin with him, I'm not too upset.

Adios to him. Right over there to that Black Hole that is the Deadskins.
I hate the new NFL ... "these hoes ain't loyal"

I really do miss the pre-salary cap days when you could have players for their entire career. Made it feel a lot more like "family". It was not good for the players money-wise, but it was great for the fans.

Nope. Not even remotely close to accurate. Defense was expected to be bad but not without talent on the team and direction.

Homerism at it's finest.

I had felt he would not be back from the start of this season. Hate to see him go but at least Dallas has been able to get DC and OC taken care of and Callahan OL assistant coach Pollack will take over for the OL. Guys on the team have been working under him so they will be very familiar with him and what is expected

No, they weren't. That's total BS.

Really?

According to all the experts the defense was slated to be worse than last year..............that would be literally impossible.

I agree. We win some and lose some. If I had my choice of having to lose one guy....Garrett, Linehan, Marinelli, Callahan...it would be Callahan. I haven't read this entire great thread yet...but I am wondering how hard the Cowboys were going to go after him...Obviously he wasnt priority # 1, 2 or 3.

lets be real, everything Commanders eventually goes up in flames. Whos to say by week 5 he isnt promoted to Play caller/OC.

There a lot of organizations that were dumpster fires, until they weren't:
Arizona was a joke until Bidwell stepped aside
Pre-Parcells/Bellicheck/Brady, NE was a train wreck
Ditto Indianapolis with Manning
Saints
Bengals
Ravens/Browns

The list goes on and on. Certainly not making any guarantees that any of these moves will work out, but these are the type of moves winning organizations make: getting a strong scouting-draft-and-develop GM, hiring good, smart coaches.

No, just heard on the radio that he took the Wash job as their OL coach. It could be that he just didn't want to be in Dallas anymore, that Dallas didn't want him here (at least want him here enough to fight for his services), or that Wash simply threw big $$ at him to take the job. Probably a combination of all of it.

I didn't think about the Gruden connection at Washington. He will probably just be happier there amongst friends, so I can't begrudge that. I do wish it wasn't at Washington though...

Then why did Washington make this move?

They'll make a push to sign Parnell. Callahan raved about him and they have a hole at RT.

To update, just read that his contract in Wash was "very lucrative". Happy for him. I don't wish ill on anyone. I doubt that he'll be enough of a difference maker in Wash to really make us rue the day he got away, though.

I agree. I'm have nothing bad to say about Callahan but once he had the play calling removed and given to Linehan the writing was on the wall. I can't say I wish him the best since he is now with the Commanders I guess I can say thanks for what you did here this season.

If anyone belives that this is a "spite jerry" move, im fairly certain the $$ amount and or security trumps any ill he feels toward the Cowboys organization, if he does indeed feel that way. Bill Callahan seems like a pretty smart guy, to make a career move because an owner made a change because you werent doing a good job at something, and you feel upset about said something, is insane.
