Doubt that with a 3 year deal. As we have seen the Commanders won't fire the staff just because the HC is gone.

When you're paying $7 million for a guy not to coach for you?

Paying assistants much less not to pales in comparison.

I am not surprised if Scot McCloughan is already trying to set up his post Gruden staff in 2016. Fangio/Donnatell on the D side, Callahan one of the future O coaches

Did they in fact hire Marinelli's talentless son-in-law as defensive coordinator?

I read something about that recently.

The Shanahan connected guys got blown out last year

But Haslett/Morris/Forester/McVay stayed on, i.e the Bruce Allen connection

Callahan worked with Allen in Oakland, so even when Gruden gets blown out he'll stay on board. Snyder hasn't been very keen on blowing money by firing coaches lately, which is why there are still a bunch of Shanny leftovers still on the staff

Forester has been a disaster as o-line coach

Callahan has had an excellent track record at the o-line coach spot and it is an area of obvious talent/coaching need.

Looking forward to what he does over the next 3 years

Everything else aside. He's a very good offensive line coach. If that's his only role, he'll do well for you.

If he left because the Commanders paid more, then gotta blame Jerry.

I hope so, but he needs NFL level talent. Right now he just has Trent Williams and Kory L is a marginal NFL player.

I expect the focus Scot McCloughan will have on this draft will be o-line and shoring up the D, in particular if Fangio comes in next

I like Callahan and hate to see him go. That said the Skins could hire Jesus and still won't matter. They're a doormat and will be until they acquire a QB who can actually throw a ball down field accurately.

That's about what I was expecting. He saw the numbers and it was just too low. Sort of like Murray, where he probably really wants to stay but has no choice because the team isn't paying near market for his services.

Agree. He's a good coach and the Commanders OL will get better, once they add more pieces. May take all 3 years of his contract to see it get done.

Yeah, I don't know why he would leave to be anything other than an OC. Jerry would pay him to stay in his current role and match a similar offer. To me the only reason he would leave is to call plays.

No, just heard on the radio that he took the Wash job as their OL coach. It could be that he just didn't want to be in Dallas anymore, that Dallas didn't want him here (at least want him here enough to fight for his services), or that Wash simply threw big $$ at him to take the job. Probably a combination of all of it.
