Skins sign Archuleta

Where is their cap room for all these signings?!?! I don't understand how this is even possible. They were 5 or 7 million over on Thursday!!!

Spend, spin, don't win- that's the MO in DC. Fantasy football for Little Lord Fauntleroy and the Crypt Keeper.

This is one signing that doesn't bother me...No big deal.

I always thought Archuleta would be a much better player than he turned out to be.

We've been saying this for years. It's cute to say it, but don't look now, it's starting to pay off. While we sit and watch, they have passed us up (last year) and are pulling away...........

lmao. Pay off? Please!!!!! The way they are doing things has NEVER worked. EVER. For anyone in the salary cap era. Get that in your heads everyone. This has NEVER worked. These are not great players the Skins are signing. In the case of El and Archuletta, they're not even very good. The Rams defense sucks! You think there might be a reason they didn't try to retain Archuletta? The guy's got 3 INTs in 5 years. Please save the envy for a team that you can legitimately be jealous of.

I am beginning to believe the reports that the deadskins are mortgaging the future is FALSE!

How are they doing all of this legally? :bang2:
It's simple actually, Snyder projects that the cap will rise every year, and it does, so the deals that look ridiculous or like he is over reaching years ago suddenly don't look bad when you project forward with four years of the cap increasing.

For instance, everyone thought we overpaid for Henry last year, but with the new cap, that deal looks pretty darn good. I wish we had resigned Witten and Roy last year, because now they're going to command much bigger bucks.

they have one playoff win! their offense wasn't all that good the last part of the season... I'm not too worried right now!

LOL - Do the Skins have any players they actually drafted playing prominant roles?

I mean, come on... this is ridiculous.
Year after year after year...

Snyder's gonna prove he can buy an NFL championship if it's the last thing he does! LOL

It's simple, they are spending money they don't have, but will have once they cut a few more players and trade Ramsey.

They do this every season....they sign a bunch of hopeful free agents and then cut a bunch of other players.

they are back loading these things
Yes, they are. But the salary cap keeps going up, and by the time to pay them, the cap will have risen enough that they'll have the money to pay them.
Plus, but that time, they'll have figured out which ones are really performing. They'll cut the ones who are not, and sign some more. It's a smart way to go. Even smarter if you can exercise a little restraint with your dollars.

thats why we have sean taylor.

They arent re-signing Ryan Clark, which means Archuleta will be starting at SS, I sure as hell wouldnt want a guy with only 3 INTS in 5 seasons, starting at SS for me:lmao2: . Seriously the guys coverage skills are very very poor. Get real Sean cant play both sides of the field. Archuleta will most likely get burned multiple times this season, just like he did with STL.

They beat us twice, and made a playoff run. Sounds like it's starting to work to me. And, they are currently improving in other areas. I don't like it either, but why deny it. They have passed us and are now attempting to leave us safely behind.

Archuleta is the hitter and Taylor is the cover guy-- and another hitter. Good signing. Washington is clearly going for a 1-2 year window before rebuilding behind Campbell. Despite the flashy name, Washington did not really improve because Archuleta probably can't cover as well as Clark. He's more experienced, though and a playmaker.

Archuleta Sucks, if i were a skins fan, i would hate this signing. He has 3 INTS in 5 seasons. Those are horrible stats, he obviously makes no plays on the ball to intercept it. Yes i have seen his tackles, and he does get alot of tackles, but he has only 3 INTS!!!!!!! Come on, that is a signing i would be unhappy with.

I'm not sure but I think Gibbs and Gregg Williams know what they're doing. If GW decides to dump Clark and sign Archuleta, believe me that it's an upgrade.

buy free agents and never develope players? oh wait, he's got campbell waiting in the wings:D

Except for maybe last year, the Skins have gone out and been world beaters in FA. Means nothing til the guys put on the pads... Who knows how things will work out then. But I'm not gonna scream and yell at every signing...

And except for the Fauria signing, they've all been solid if somewhat financially inflated... Lloyd is expected to get a new contract of 5.5m annually. I just find it amusing at the money being spent. Outrageous.
