Skins sign Archuleta

Is it even logical to bring up the CAP anymore. They obviously get whoever they want and we are here laughing about their cap situation.... really what gives.... we have all this cap room and nothing to show for it.... even our coveted kicker might soon be gone elsewhere because we cant reconcile giving him much money. Taylor and Archuletta.... two headhunters back there..... We better go after fearless receivers.

Yes, they are. But the salary cap keeps going up, and by the time to pay them, the cap will have risen enough that they'll have the money to pay them.
Plus, but that time, they'll have figured out which ones are really performing. They'll cut the ones who are not, and sign some more. It's a smart way to go.

no they won't ..... they'll cut them or possibly restructure them. Haven't you watched the last few years?

They beat us twice, and made a playoff run. Sounds like it's starting to work to me. And, they are currently improving in other areas. I don't like it either, but why deny it. They have passed us and are now attempting to leave us safely behind.

They did all that without making big offseason moves. Get back to me when a team wins a Super Bowl - you know, the actual goal - by doing things the way Gibbs and Danny are doing it - piling up on other teams FAs, mortgaging their draft. Hint - in the salary cap era, it has never happened. NEVER. Once that changes, give them some credit. If all you want to do is sweep the skins and win a playoff game, in the weakest game imaginable, I'd suggest rooting for a team with MUCH lower expectations.

I'm not sure but I think Gibbs and Gregg Williams know what they're doing. If GW decides to dump Clark and sign Archuleta, believe me that it's an upgrade.

I dont care, i still think its an awful signing, you guys are just shoveling out money to guys that most of them werent starters until last year. I will stick to my saying that Archuleta coverage skills are very very poor. Out of 10, i give him a 4 tops. You've got to make more plays on the ball than that(3 INTS=5 YEARS=Awful coverage skills)

If it was a horse we'd have to shoot it.

Pull an Art and ban him..... nah, don't do that we need him around when Brunell flops and this team goes on a downward spiral.... all those high profile coaches won't be enough to right the ship!:laugh2: :laugh2:

I am beginning to believe the reports that the deadskins are mortgaging the future is FALSE!

How are they doing all of this legally? :bang2:

The word is that the restructures that were publicized (7-11 players) were not contingent on the CBA extension.

Irvin did drugs on his own Taylor pulled a gun there is a big difference

Irvin still plays for us?

Who knew?

Because otherwise, that statement would be irrelevant, and I know a trolling Skins fan would never do that.

Wow someone from Dallas who gets it!

They swept us, and won a playoff game. Now, they are making attempts to get even better. How can anyone fault that. It seems obvious that our predictions of their impending salary cap h@ll are largely exaggerated. I, for one, would love to be in their position. While we sit on our hands........

Or maybe teams don't throw at him too often...Darrell Green never had many INTS

Except for maybe last year, the Skins have gone out and been world beaters in FA. Means nothing til the guys put on the pads...

there is a connection there. i think you may be onto it. think 'coaching'.

Archuleta does suck pretty bad , and Randle El was one of the players that I was praying Dallas wouldn't pursue . I think he'll be lucky to hold even the 3rd receiver spot . That said , I really like the B. Lloyd signing . He's played on a crap team for years , and done a pretty good job . Opposite of Moss I think he will have a good year . Randle El does make you hold your breath every single time he catches a punt , and will make their special teams more dangerous . Sorry , but I can find NOTHING good to say about Arch .

Though there aren't any guys there that I really wanted , I think the Skins have done a pretty good job thus far .

Darrell was a CB, Adam is a SS, there's a huge difference.

It's simple actually, Snyder projects that the cap will rise every year, and it does, so the deals that look ridiculous or like he is over reaching years ago suddenly don't look bad when you project forward with four years of the cap increasing.

For instance, everyone thought we overpaid for Henry last year, but with the new cap, that deal looks pretty darn good. I wish we had resigned Witten and Roy last year, because now they're going to command much bigger bucks.

Bingo

If that's all you want, I'm sorry. The Cowboys are about winning super bowls. There is a model for doing that in the salary cap era. The Cowboys are going about building their team that way. The Skins are doing it the way that has ALWAYS failed. Without exception - ALWAYS.

Now, they are making attempts to get even better. How can anyone fault that. It seems obvious that our predictions of their impending salary cap h@ll are largely exaggerated. I, for one, would love to be in their position. While we sit on our hands........

a. The cap hell scenario was always contingent on no CBA extension. The CBA was extended, hence no cap hell. It was all spelled out before the CBA was extended.

b. Try looking at the actual players they got instead of just creaming over the "name". If you study up on Lloyd a bit, you'll be quite surprised. Same for Archuletta. Randle El is a glorified PR, who was supposed to step up his game and break out last year, when Plax left Pitt. Guess what? He had his worst year as a pro. Color me woefully unimpressed at the paper tiger the skins are putting together.

The problem is your coaching up to last year stunk. And there's no guarantee that your high payroll coaching staff will be able to make it work next year...

But then that's why they play the games... We'll see.

Archuleta Sucks, if i were a skins fan, i would hate this signing. He has 3 INTS in 5 seasons. Those are horrible stats, he obviously makes no plays on the ball to intercept it. Yes i have seen his tackles, and he does get alot of tackles, but he has only 3 INTS!!!!!!! Come on, that is a signing i would be unhappy with.

Exactly.

They've got two guys now that can't cover.

We know how well that works. ;)

they are back loading these things and the players will be cut before they receive all that's due them.... remember Bruce Smith and Deion. They are probably still paying for them!

You watch, these players won't be there in a couple of years!:laugh2:

It looks like the players would realize that is what more bonus $$ up front?
