Video: Skip and Shannon on Byron Jones Eagles Reports

I could be wrong, but I think that Byron Jones is in for a shock. He isn't going to get $10M per year. He's always around the ball and defends passes, but as others have mentioned, two INTs in 5 years, and 0 (zero!) in the last two seasons is not going to cut it.

Wow you couldn’t be more off base. You don’t think Jones gets 10M?? That’s a funny joke lol

:lmao2:

This is what cracks me up about the media. Does losing Jones close the Super Bowl window? Ohhhh. You mean the middle of the pack defense that couldn't stop Trubisky, Allen, Bridgewater, Darnold? Come on.

Losing Jones does hurt, absolutely. But let's not act like this is the 85 Bears, 2002 Bucs or 2000 Ravens losing a Ray Lewis, Mike Singletary or Derrick Brooks/Sapp/Lynch.

I know right,
What Super Bowl window lol

I agree... That doesn't mean that a corner with 5 INT's last year is better then Jalen Ramsey who had 1.

Forcing a QB to go somewhere else with the ball that they don't want to go can cause turnovers.

The QB holding the ball longer can cause sacks and turnovers.
How did that work out with our secondary last year?

You are going to be ridiculously wrong. He’s getting 15MM+ per year. The reports are already coming that Philly might go to 17-18MM to get him.

We played a bend don’t break style.. I think you should start there and that will answer a lot of other questions when it comes to our defenses lack of turnovers and sacks.

Don’t think that has anything to do with lack of interceptions.

Well.. When your priority is to not give up big plays you tend to not take risks which leads to softer coverages which leads to QB's being able to get rid of the ball quicker which leads to less pressure, sacks, and turnovers.

An interesting stat would be balls that should have been intercepted because I honestly don't know how many opportunities he's had to get picks. His first instinct seems to be preventing the play up followed by limiting the YAC with a good tackle. I see quite a few CB's go for the pick but they seem to have Safety help allowing them to go for the ball.

They have a system for determining drops by receivers, why not one for DB's? We only know Jones doesn't get them but not why.

I disagree. Good ball hawking CB’s are going to make plays no matter.

we have seen this before...

byron WILL look better somewhere else. our old scheme was crap. hell look at brandon carr. cowboys will be criticized for letting him walk when he has 4 Ints this upcoming year. but i also believe our Corners will look better here w a new scheme. we will be okay..

I hope not but it's possible. Jones just doesn't seem to have the confidence to intercept the ball, and is highly comfortable sticking to a receiver and deflecting the pass.
I think it's the scheme because we really haven't been a big intercepting team in a long while.

It is not unreasonable to assume that subtracting the defenses best players won't improve the defense. Heck, even Dieon Sanders couldn't drag Atlanta to a super bowl. Was that his fault? Did Atlanta improve when they let him go?

no one can choke as well either...

I like Byron but it’s ridiculous what he did on that play. Look at the replay whoever needs reminding. Literally inexplicably slows down and turns to look at the qb and lets Cook get separation behind him. All he had to do was keep running with his man like he’s done 1,000 times but no, this is the time he decides to stop and look back. No way that pass gets past him if he’s playing the man

I want to know where people are hearing this. It seems like the Eagles are said to be targeting this guy or that guy. Where is this information really coming from? It’s no secret they need to upgrade the back end of their D, but I doubt they just let the world know their actual plans...or any team for that matter.

I hate that we have new coaching, one year too late. Too many FA question marks.

It's rare that someone posts something that shocks me. But this post does. A LOT!!!

I'm saving this.
