I mean sure, overall, he didn't have to put the team on his back to win games but there were games where he did. Such as that first Eagles game. Late in that game and in OT, it was Dak who pulled that out (granted, he played sloppily early and that's why we were down in the first place).

Agree and while he didn't have to put the team on his back he did have to manage games at a high level throughout the season. Regardless all the pressure will be on him this year. Suit up boys suit up!

It's a true statement, but that says plenty positive about Dak as well. He stayed within himself as a rookie, and didn't lose games. That is a HUGE thing. His game was young, but his composure wasn't.

This season, much more will be on him. Eventually, he'll have to win games against top quarterbacks, which he didn't have to do last year.

Someone email them the article with Dak's AV that placed him over every other Dallas rookie in history other than Zeke and Dorsett.

In the biggest game of his young career (playoff game), the Cowboys had to rely on Dak's arm to bring them back after falling way behind.

I guess the fact that the defense choked it away at the end of the game makes Dak's brilliance somewhat less meaningful, but the narrative that he didn't have to/couldn't win games for the team is misinformed.

-the Eagles game at home .. Dak had to perform at a very high level in the 4th qtr/OT to help us win
- the throw he made late in the 2nd quarter of the first Packers game that led to that quick touchdown COMPLETELY turned that game around for us
- Pittsburgh game, Dak really played big in the important moments. Zeke was a monster in that game as well though, so I think the national mediots will only give Zeke the credit for that win.

I'm sure there are more examples of this rookie QB coming up big when it really mattered, but these quickly come to mind.

Dak has a lot to learn and will only get better. But he was not carried to a 13-3 record, like a lot of media members like to claim.

This is evident by the fact that they were 30th in the league in pass attempts per game. Dak wasn't asked too much and came into one of the better situations for a rookie qb ever.

He played well in his limited role but the over rating has definitely gotten out of hand

It just depends on how you view it.

Putting the team on your back is what Tony did for over a decade, so no, dak didnt do that.
Dak got to be a game manager last season. A role Romo was never really afforded... bad defenses, awful offensive lines, bad receivers, nonexistent running games, bum coaches. Want to see the picture of Romo's career, look at andrew luck the past 2-3 years.

You mean how once Romo went out last year, 4 other quarterbacks couldn't start and win a game? How if we actually took that last game seriously, we would have been 14 and 2, and we were only a couple of points of having a perfect season? Dak wasn't the sole reason for our victories, but he was a huge piece of it. Anyone alluding him to being a game manager are deluding themselves. You don't have one of, if not the greatest rookie season at qb in the modern history of the game and be a 'game manager'.

Personally, I think that Baltimore game was his most impressive in the regular season.

"Manage games at a high level". I think that is a great way to put it.

I know people get upset when anyone calls him a bus driver, he was the ultimate for a rookie in taking what the defense gave him and not trying to go beyond his capabilities as a young QB in the NFL. He never tried to do too much and took as few of risk as possible. It was lot like the way Aikman played when he had the full offense of Irvin, Novacek, Smith, Harper and that Oline around him.

Yes, and generally, that's not the situation you want for your quarterback. It's no coincidence that Romo's best year, when he was in the talk for NFL MVP, was when he was afforded the luxury of guiding an offense like we had last year. It's also no coincidence that we had a lot of team success that season.

Frankly, I hope Dak never has to carry the team because if he does it probably means we're not very good overall.

What Dak didn't do was throw the backbreaking INT. Romo is and always was a gun slinger and he was fun to watch because of it. However, with all the highlight reel plays also came a lot of bad throws and game cinching turnovers. Dak was steady. He may have not made the insane plays that Romo did, but he also didn't lose any. He took what the defense gave him and didnt force much and was very successful. That said, there were plenty of games we found ourselves down and he brought us back to the point that I almost felt like it was the early 90s again. I found myself expecting us to find a way to win every game which I haven't felt since then.
Barring some crazy regression, Dak is plenty good enough to take us home. Need any proof that a QB simply needs to not make big mistakes to win a SB? Look no further than Eli (x2), Flacco, Dilfer, and possibly Wilson ....just to name a few quite unspectacular QBs with rings. And I think Dak may be much better than all of those.

Hell he almost pulled us back in that playoff game too.

Funny though, the same guys who will rip on him will laud the head of the Seattle busdrivers' union.
